Join us in welcoming Dr. Douglas Rohn, DVM, DACVS 🩺🐾
Dr. Doug Rohn is a Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon (Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons) who has been in private small animal surgical referral practice since 1997. His goal has always been to provide an excellent surgical experience for every patient while ensuring each family is an informed and active partner in their pet’s care. Over the years, he’s been continually inspired by the body’s incredible ability to heal and the powerful bond between humans and their animal companions ❤️.
Dr. Rohn graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, where he received the GG Graham Prize for outstanding achievement in small animal medicine and surgery. He completed a one-year internship at Kansas State University and was then selected as one of two inaugural Fellows in the Comparative Cardiovascular Program at Texas A&M University, completing a three-year residency in small animal surgery and four years of graduate work in cardiovascular physiology.
After achieving Board Certification, Dr. Rohn established the surgery service at VetCare Emergency and Specialty Care Center in Dublin, CA, in 1997. He went on to found Bay Area Veterinary Specialists in 1998, a large multidisciplinary specialty and emergency hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he served as Medical Director and Supervising Partner until 2009.
His career has taken him across the country—from Bozeman, Montana, to Honolulu, Hawaii, Tucson, Arizona, and Anchorage, Alaska—building and leading surgical programs at top veterinary hospitals. Most recently, he’s provided locum surgical services throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond 🌎.
Now, Dr. Rohn is thrilled to bring his experience and passion for surgery to Cascade Veterinary Referral Center, helping to revive and grow the hospital’s surgical service 🐶🐱.
When he’s not in the operating room, Doug can be found on the water with a fly rod in hand, chasing fish alongside his life partner and their chocolate lab 🎣🐕.
