Saying that we enjoyed playing "pass the baby" with little Holly here is an understatement! But don't worry- she had plenty of puppy kisses to go around, and certainly didn't mind sharing 🐾

Sabi really leaned into the "Elizabethan" part of the whole "e-collar" thing for his procedure, and we love his style!
He was a perfect gentleman, and our staff enjoyed getting to treat him like a king during his visit👑

We're deep in the "dog days" of summer and heat stroke is a very real concern in south GA ☀️

So what can you do to help your pet stay safe?

🔥Avoid outings during the heat of the day.

🔥Move playtime inside where it's air conditioned. It's still too hot right now for some pets even once the sun goes down!

🔥Never leave your pet alone in a vehicle.

🔥Test the pavement temperature. Remember, if it's too hot for you to touch with your hand for seven seconds straight, it's too hot for your pet to stand on!

🔥Monitor for signs of heat stress and know your pet's individual needs, as well as any risk factors that may increase based on your pet's breed, age, and health.

Some of the most incredible stories begin with heartbreak.

Back in 2025, a young cat was found nearly lifeless beside the road by a kindhearted stranger, who stopped to help and immediately realized how serious the situation was. She had been shot and heavily abused, leaving her with wounds to her face, neck, and shoulder... and a severely fractured leg. To make matters even more heart wrenching, she was also pregnant.

Our staff fell in love with her right away and adopted her into our office, where her sweet temperament quickly earned her the name "Maple".

Shortly after, this young mama gave birth right here in a kennel at Healing Paws. Sadly, only one of her kittens survived- a healthy, spunky little boy named Ripley.

Once mama Maple was stable enough to undergo surgery, our vets worked diligently to amputate her injured front leg at the shoulder and provide some much-needed relief after everything she'd been through.

Amazingly, this sweet gal never stopped being a devoted mother; even while recovering from trauma, surgery, and the loss of her other kittens, she poured every bit of her love into raising Ripley.

Today, Maple is the very active and very loving three-legged queen of our office, and Ripley has grown into our mischievous young man who always keeps us on our toes. Watching them together is an incredible reminder of just how resilient animals can be, and how strong a mother's love truly is.

We're so grateful that a compassionate stranger stopped to help Maple that day. Because of that one act of kindness, both Maple and Ripley were given a second chance- and our clinic gained two very special members of the family. ❤️🐾

Independence Day celebrations are only a short while away, and now is the best time to ensure you're prepared to help your dog or cat have a safe and comfortable holiday!

🎆 Many pets are fearful of fireworks and may bolt at the sudden loud noise, flashing lights, and vibration in the environment. If your four (or three) legged loved one isn't a fan of the festivities, we may be able to help. Call us at 229-396-4665 to see if anti anxiety medication is a good fit for your pet to help relieve their fear.

🎆 They may find it delicious, but barbecues and backyard cookouts can leave many pets feeling the painful effects of eating high fat, greasy foods. Remember to set aside some pet-safe treats for your furry friends and give those instead!

These two handsome Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were escorted like royalty by veterinary assistants Megan and Kristen, and it's safe to say we were all quite enamored with the kingly duo's charming personalities.

Did you know? The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was officially recognized by the AKC in 1996, making it the 140th breed to join their registry.

Her name may be spicy, but this tiny girl is as sweet as sugar!

Our team really enjoyed meeting Pepper during her first wellness visit, and we're so excited for all the joy she's going to bring to her new family ❤️
