Luna the Tuna!! Someone adopt this girllll!! She is the sweetest, goofiest doofiest lady ever! I promise you will not go a day without laughing at her antics

Don't be scared........it's just LUNA!!!

We're kicking off our Wags BOO CREW with this beautiful girl who has a LOT to say........and we're not just talking about Halloween!

Luna is our very own "Chatty Kathy!" She has an entire vocabulary of grumbles, funny noises and conversations that will keep you entertained. We aren't entirely sure what she's saying, but we suspect a LOT of it has to do with belly rubs and snacks!

At just a year and a half old, this 70-pound goofball is SMART, playful, loyal and LOVES her people! She's even spent four months with a professional trainer and did SO well that she now helps other dogs learn!

Luna is looking for an experienced dog owner who will continue her training and help her be the VERY BEST girl she can be. She can be selective with other dogs, so any introductions need to be slow and thoughtful.

**The only thing Luna wants to haunt is YOUR HEART!!!**

Today we said goodbye to Dobby, Grandpa, long time friend, Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and CCT alumni, lover of stuffies, and destroyer of krafts singles.

Dobby was a special kind of guy that you had to know to love. Full of fire and spite, but could also give you the biggest nudge in the behind that says “Hey buddy, I’m here for ya” any time you may be down.

He was always down for a snuggle and a snack (me too bud) but I discovered after a couple of days of him refusing his meds in wet food, Brad had snuck him some krafts singles with his pills one time and he’d been holding out for the goods. From that moment on he was adamant that when he came over, he got his Kraft singles.

Dobby earned his nickname “Grandpa” because anytime the younger dogs would play, he would pop off like an old man “get off my lawn you whippersnappers!!” And it just stuck.

We love you and miss you already Grandpa, rest easy old friend.

If any or our clients are getting new towels we’d love to have you bring us your old ones. Or even if you just want to clean out some of the old ones. Preferably full sized. We go through a pile of them on a daily basis, and although we launder and reuse them many times, they eventually they all will wear out.

I want you to remember today that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. As long as you are willing to learn, grow, and try new things. As long as you are consistent. As long as you are open.

Raise the ceiling for yourself. Raise the ceiling for your dog. Never put a cap on you or your dog's potential if you aren't willing to put in the work. Amazing things can happen if you are ready to accept the work and the challenge to achieve that greatness.

Seeing as we’ve had quite the discourse going in regards to e-collars and recall training, here’s my stance.

In 18 years, and several thousand dogs trained, I’ve never sent a client dog home without clear instruction that for any off-leash work besides the house or fenced yard… all dogs wear an e-collar. Period.

Is it because the dogs aren’t trained to recall without one? Nope. Will the dogs almost certainly still recall without it, regardless of circumstances? Yep.

Then why the rigid reliance on e-collars for all my clients when they take their dogs anywhere off-leash?

Because dogs are dogs, and reality is unpredictable and unforgiving.

Because even the most highly trained dogs:
-Get distracted
-Get spooked
-Get overwhelmed by a prey opportunity
-Get overwhelmed by a play opportunity

And when reality shows up, and it will show up, I will not allow my clients and their dogs to be at the mercy of hope.

Hoping that you can get your dog back, because you’ve “Done serious training and proofing” with food, toys, and affection… is not only foolish, it’s wildly irresponsible.

It’s placing your dog’s life in the hands of hope. And I want nothing to do with hope. I want my clients to have every possible advantage they can have. When that heart-stopping moment inevitably occurs, and the s**t hits the fan, and the immaculately trained dog is for some reason momentarily absent… I want my clients to be able to remind their dog that recall is not optional, and it will happen right now.

Because, as many who’ve been through this horrible moment without an e-collar will tell you, you often don’t get a second chance. You only need your dog to make one mistake out of a thousand perfect recalls to have it be life altering or life ending.

Can I train a dog to recall extremely well without an e-collar? Of course. It’s not rocket science. Will I ever suggest my clients risk their dog’s lives by being off-leash without one?

Never.

Because ego, ignorance, or blind adherence to delusional orthodoxy will get your dog killed.

Sweet Yzma is our previous foster who came to us severely emaciated, weighing in at 20lbs. Once again I saw a sad skinny face walk in through those clinic doors and had to take her home. (Thanks for the soft spot Noodle)

Her journey began with putting weight on her, getting her spayed, having her nose job done in Bend at a specialty clinic all thanks to Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, Inc.

She is up for adoption and ready for her forever home! While she may have some lazy bull dog tendencies, let’s remember this girl ran around our place with our rag tag crew…and she can keep up! She’s got lots of energy and CANNOT contain her tongue 😜. Yzma loves dogs, cats, kids, elderly, you name it! Don’t forget those squealy bulldog noises either…if it walks like a pig and sounds like a pig??

Yzma is such an outgoing lady who needed a fresh restart, got it, and now needs her happily forever after 🌸✨
