💔 BLU NEEDS YOUR HELP 💔
Almost one year ago, Blu arrived at Paw Works as a tiny, fragile 5-week-old puppy. Like every puppy who comes through our doors, he deserved a happy, healthy start to life. Unfortunately, that wasn't the hand he was dealt.
Not long after arriving, Blu developed a severe upper respiratory infection that became so serious he required IV fluids, antibiotics, steroids, and around-the-clock care. For weeks, his dedicated foster family and veterinary team fought to help him recover. Thankfully, he pulled through.
But that was only the beginning.
Soon after, we noticed something wasn't right. Blu struggled to eat. His mouth was painful and inflamed. He drooled excessively, suffered from terrible breath, bleeding gums, and recurring flare-ups that made even the simplest things uncomfortable.
For months, we have searched for answers.
Countless veterinary visits.Blood tests.Radiographs.Medications.Treatments.Specialized oral care.
We have done everything possible to help him while trying to manage the costs ourselves. But after months of fighting this battle, we have reached a point where we can no longer do it alone.
Blu has been diagnosed with Canine Chronic Ulcerative Stomatitis, a painful condition that causes severe inflammation and ulceration in the mouth. Despite every effort to control it with medication, the relief has only been temporary.
His veterinary team has determined that Blu's best chance at a comfortable, pain-free future is a FULL MOUTH EXTRACTION.
Read that again.
At not even one year old, this sweet boy needs all of his teeth removed so he can finally live without constant pain.
The procedure will need to be performed in stages and is estimated to cost between $2,368 and $3,000.
And that's just for the dental surgery.
It does not include the months of diagnostics, bloodwork, radiographs, medications, hospital visits, and treatments that have already been done in an effort to help Blu. When everything is added together, we have already spent more than $5,000 on his medical care over the past year.
We have never wanted finances to determine whether an animal receives the care they need, and we've done everything possible to shoulder these costs ourselves. But we have reached a point where we simply cannot do it alone.
We want to schedule Blu's surgery before he experiences another painful flare-up, but we do not currently have the funds needed to move forward.
If Blu's story touches your heart, please consider making a donation today. Every dollar helps give this sweet boy a future free from pain.
After everything he has endured in his short life, he deserves that chance.
