Sunrise walks and pool play get us through the summer!

At COSCA we love dogs, and they are welcome on the open space. But before grabbing the leash and heading out, be sure you know what the weather will be like. With heat rising, it’s important to consider that dogs have a harder time keeping cool than people. If it is a really hot day, your dog might suffer from heat illness. The danger zone starts in the upper 70’s for some breeds. You can check the Tufts Animal Condition and Care System chart for guidance, but also keep an eye on your dog for signs of distress. If you do bring your dog, head out early before it gets too hot and bring plenty of water for your dog.

When on the trails, it is important (and required) that your dog be on a leash. A leash is the best way to make everyone feel comfortable with you and your buddy.
