Spring and summer in Georgia mean more time outside, and more encounters with bees, wasps, and fire ants. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿพ

Most insect stings cause mild swelling, but some pets can have serious allergic reactions.

Watch for:
โš ๏ธ Swelling of the face or muzzle
โš ๏ธ Hives or excessive itching
โš ๏ธ Vomiting or diarrhea
โš ๏ธ Difficulty breathing
โš ๏ธ Sudden weakness or lethargy

If symptoms are mild, contact your veterinarian for guidance. If your pet has trouble breathing, facial swelling, repeated vomiting, collapse, or severe symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately.

Memorial Day weekend often means food, friends, and backyard BBQs, but for pets, it can also bring hidden dangers. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿพ

Common BBQ hazards include:
โš ๏ธ Fatty meats that can cause stomach upset or pancreatitis
โš ๏ธ Bones that can cause choking or intestinal blockages
โš ๏ธ Onions, which are toxic to pets
โš ๏ธ Corn cobs, which can cause GI obstructions
โš ๏ธ Alcohol, even in small amounts
โš ๏ธ Hot grills, skewers, and open flames

Keep your pet safe by sticking to their regular diet, securing trash, supervising them around grills, and reminding guests not to share food.

Those puppy eyes are convincing, but saying โ€œnoโ€ helps keep them safe. ๐Ÿถ

Do you have a rescue dog? Show them off in the comments! ๐Ÿ“ธ

We would love to see their pictures and hear their story.
