They don’t trot for anyone. Their riding days are behind them. They appreciate a good and timely meal and they get spicy if their food is delayed. They like their routines and are set in their ways. Boss loves how she wants and only when she wants. She decided she was done working and retired early and without warning from her position as a celebrity shop kitty. She was done with her public appearances. BB doesn’t ask for permission. She doesn’t tolerate a bull’s meadow muffins. She won’t hesitate to send your feelings to the train station. She draws blood for fun. She cuddles when it suits her. She has zero interest in the outdoors. She loves kitty treats and play tunnels. She is the Boss and she is fierce. She is the bigger bear. Be like Boss.

Squirrel babies are being born THIS WEEK.

Right now — mid-February — in attics, tree cavities, and leaf nests across America:

Tiny, hairless, blind squirrel kits are entering the world.

THE TIMELINE:
- Mating: December-January ✓
- Gestation: 44 days ✓
- Birth: Mid-February ← WE ARE HERE
- Eyes open: 5 weeks from now
- Leave nest: 10-12 weeks from now
- Independent: Late spring

A mother squirrel is giving birth in your neighborhood today.
Her babies are the size of your thumb.
They can't see. They can't hear. They can't regulate their own body temperature.

For the next 10 weeks, she'll nurse them, warm them, protect them.
She'll leave to eat and be back in minutes.
She'll fight off hawks, cats, and other squirrels.

If you see a squirrel moving slowly right now...
If she seems tired, protective, defensive...

She might be a new mom.
Be kind. She's doing the hardest job in nature.

🐾 Chocolate Emergency🐾

Today, we had visitor named Loki who would like to share his valuable lesson about chocolate safety for dogs. Loki came to our ER after getting into some Reese’s chocolate bars—and yes, he even swallowed the wrappers! 🍫🚫

As many of you know, chocolate is toxic to dogs, and those wrappers can lead to serious intestinal blockages. Thankfully, Loki was brought in quickly for evaluation by Dr. Apolo and to induce vomiting. After a quick injection, he expelled not only a lot of chocolate but also 15 candy wrappers! 🎉

We then administered another injection to help stop his vomiting. This method of decontamination is highly effective in minimizing the toxic effects of chocolate, but it’s crucial to act fast—this approach works best within the first few hours after ingestion.

Chocolate toxicity can lead to a range of symptoms in dogs, from vomiting and diarrhea with mild ingestion to severe issues like cardiac arrhythmias and seizures with high levels of toxicity. The severity depends on the type and amount of chocolate consumed:
- Milk Chocolate: Mildest toxicity
- Dark Chocolate: Moderate toxicity
- Baker's Chocolate: Most toxic

If your dog gets into chocolate, don’t hesitate! Contact your local veterinarian or veterinary emergency center immediately for guidance on whether to induce vomiting or seek additional care.
