I had a great time Sunday working with these three ladies. They have been working on building confidence with their horses, and learning to read their horses' behaviors.

I always say that working with horses is a conversation, and we have to learn to listen as much as talk. It's important to create common "language" we can both understand, and every horse and every human has their own unique "accent"

Ambuscade is enjoying her mostly retired life. We hack around a couple of times a week, to keep both of us fit, and shes actually feeling almost as good as ever.

I've been so focused on goals for so long, and monitoring rehab, that I'd forgotten what a goofy girl she is, and that she has such a sweet snuggly side to her.

It really is helpful to take a step back and and take a breather and just enjoy being with your horse. I didn't realize how much she had shut down, and how little I was appreciating what a fun mare I have.

To ride a horse you've trained from a yearling, and have a "Black Stallion" moment, cantering with your arms out for the sheer joy of it, is why we do this.

I never thought 4 years ago that we'd reach this point. You taught me more about myself than I dreamed possible, and challenged me in every way. I've become a better horsewoman in the end, and will carry these lessons on.

I'm glad I got to share in this journey with you Rockway Morning Reign.

This Dynamic Duo has been blowing me out of the water!

It's been fun to watch this young rider fall in love with her pony, as they build a partnership based on trust and respect. The Pint-sized Pony definitely has a bit of "red-headed pony mare" syndrom, but her owner is tenacious and dedicated, and is working hard to redirect that energy. Can't wait to see them tackle barrels next show season!

"In their lives, I was just a blip; someone who made a big impact, or maybe not. But I remember every single lesson."

I love keeping tabs on all my former students. I see some of them getting ready for winter in Wellington, or going 2*, and those who have their horses in the back yard of their own houses. Even those no longer in the sport, I hope you look back fondly on your time with horses in your lives.
