Happy Friday! ❤️

A little update on Ms. Ruthie, who had surgery on her back leg last week. She is doing A-MAZING! 🎉

At her one-week recheck Wednesday, Dr. Hall said she looks great! Youth is definitely on her side! She’s not a fan of strict crate rest, but with lots of short walks, she’s using her leg really well. 🙌

Proud to partner with you guys!!! ❤️❤️❤️

🧡This week was another BIG week and we’re pretty proud of what our rescue team was able to accomplish.

On Sunday alone, we took in 22 dogs from shelters. Our local partner rescues assisted with a handful of the dogs and showed up with a smile! We also stepped in to help with a multi dog hoarding case, taking in dogs who desperately needed a safe place to land. And because apparently we weren’t busy enough, we welcomed another 8 dogs from a rural shelter that needed help (all are heartworm positive of course!) Let’s also add in TNR of a local cat that the community needed help with.

That’s 40+ dogs in just a few days and every single one comes with their own needs, challenges, medical history, and story.

Behind the scenes, there have been A LOT of moving parts for dogs that had already been through quarantine or needed extra services:

-Multiple dogs at the vet for full medical workups
-Full oral dentals
-Spays & neuters
-Heartworm treatment for several dogs
-Vaccines, diagnostics, medications and everything in between
-Scheduling and coordinating our weekly transports
-Coordinating fosters, transport, supplies and placement
-Managing all the logistics that keep these dogs moving forward
✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅

But it’s what we do 🧡

We don’t focus on the things we can’t control. We focus on the dogs and what we CAN do to change their trajectory’s.

And none of this happens without our incredible volunteer team. The people who answer the texts, coordinate transports, drive the miles, open their homes, make the vet appointments, pick up the dogs, foster them, administer medications, share the posts and show up every single day.

We are incredibly grateful for every person who continues to show up and keep their eyes on the mission. ❤️

Alrighty y’all! First off - thank you all for the name suggestions…soo many great ideas! After a bit of thought, we are gonna go with Phyllis Diller! I mean - the resemblance is simply uncanny!!🤣🤣🤣 And this may be hard to believe, but now that Phyllis can actually SEE 👀👀 that sassiness seems to be slowly disappearing and her sweet side is starting to shine through!

So. Long story short…. Working with other rescues and shelters is insanely rewarding.

We needed help with a hoarding case and in turn, traded 10 dogs for 7 seniors - My Chi & Me Rescue took in some and these kiddos are ours.

Their shelter covered a good amount of vetting, but we will need to have them checked out before transport/adoption and all will need grooming.

If you are interested in fostering, 2 of these kiddos are still in need of a foster - marked “need foster” on photos.

We are hoping to raise approx $250 per pup for vetting/grooming.

Meet Little Ms. Ruthie ❤️

DONATIONS NEEDED! 🙏🐾

Sooo Ms. Ruthie has been in our care for a bit and well we figured it was time to properly introduce this special girl to y’all

Ruthie came to us from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter Texas. Initially we thought we were getting a feisty little gal who might need some time to learn to trust people. She was originally estimated to be around 2 years old, but we soon discovered she’s actually more of an 8–9 month old puppy! 🥹 That’s OK - the younger the better for getting her socialized! But there was another surprise - she tested positive for heartworms when she is just a puppy!!😳
So we knew we could handle all of that…..but we’re not done yet. We soon realized she had some pain and will need surgery on her back leg (FHO)

This is an awful lot for one young pup to deal with, and honestly, it helps explain some of that initial feistiness.
But here’s what we’ve learned about this girl: Ruthie is personality PLUS! 😂❤️ She is smart, quirky, curious, and absolutely determined to make the most of life. And despite a few issues going against her, she is thriving in foster care.
We are so grateful Ruthie found her way to Friends of Faye. Now we want to make sure she gets whatever she needs to heal and feel 100% again.
That’s where we need your help. ❤️

LOUIE UPDATE — AND IT’S A GOOD ONE! 🥹🐾💙
We’re at the vet with Louie today, and after all the question marks we had when this sweet old man came into rescue, we finally get to share some really great news!
Louie’s nasty URI has completely cleared with antibiotics and he is doing AMAZING! 🙌
Even better? There aren’t any major medical surprises hiding underneath it all. 🎉 Our guy just needs a few medicated baths, a dental, and then… LOUIE WILL BE READY FOR ADOPTION! 🥹🏡
And listen, we’re not body shaming Louie 😂, but dude has apparently enjoyed the good life a little too much over the years. He’s been obese for much of his life, but has already lost FOUR POUNDS in our care thanks to a lower-calorie diet! 👏
So yes, we have a little saggy skin situation happening now…but at his age, WHO DOESN’T?! 😂 Nothing to write home about.
From snot everywhere, hacking nonstop and a whole lot of medical unknowns…to THIS. 💙
