Allow us to introduce Rosco, our latest intake, who required urgent medical intervention this week.

Fortunately, the team at Stone Ridge Veterinary Medical Center of Willis was able to provide life-saving care, and Rosco even dozed off during his echocardiogram. We subsequently performed a dental procedure, extracting 9 teeth, which has already led to noticeable improvements in his well-being.

Unfortunately, Rosco's diagnosis includes a grade 4 heart murmur, kidney disease, and severe underweight, likely linked to his poor dental health. 😖😖 The costs associated with his care have been substantial, totaling $1200 over the past two days, which was not part of our planned expenses. 😩

Just like his famous namesake, Eddie has a way of stealing hearts wherever he goes.
This adorable 2-year-old Pomeranian mix was found abandoned at a local park, but despite being let down by people in the past, he hasn't lost his sweet, happy-go-lucky personality. Weighing just 13 pounds, Eddie is the perfect compact companion—small enough to fit comfortably in your lap, but with enough personality to fill your entire home.

Welcome Hairy Styles!!! To Friends of Faye 🎸🐾

Are you looking for a calm, predictable pup who respects personal space? Keep scrolling. But if you’re searching for a tiny, 12-pound shadow who thinks a trip to the mailbox is a life-changing adventure worthy of its own documentary, Hairy might just be your guy!

At just five months old, Hairy is pure puppy perfection, complete with the most incredibly silky-soft hair you’ve ever felt. One minute he’s tearing around the backyard in full-speed zoomie mode, and the next he’s stretched out for a well-earned nap, recharging for his next adventure.

This chick is headed in today to remove bladder stones in hopes that it will improve her quality of life- and we can get outta these diapers!! 🤞🤞🤞 Following this surgery, we will then discuss repair of her ACL tear and whether or not it is medically necessary for a gal her age.

One of the hardest parts of dog rescue isn't the heartbreak, the medical cases, the fundraising, or even the sleepless nights.

It's the expectation that because you care, you should always be available.

Many people see a rescue volunteer and assume they have unlimited time, unlimited energy, and unlimited capacity to solve every problem immediately. What they don't see are the dozens of messages, calls, emergencies, transport arrangements, vet appointments, foster needs, and difficult decisions happening behind the scenes every single day.

Most rescuers have full-time jobs. Families. Health concerns. Personal responsibilities. We squeeze rescue into every spare moment because we love these animals—not because we're being paid to do it.

Setting boundaries doesn't mean we care less. It means we're trying to make sure we can keep showing up tomorrow.

The reality is that rescue survives because ordinary people give extraordinary amounts of their time, money, and emotional energy. A little patience, understanding, and willingness to help goes a long way.

We are not customer service representatives. We are volunteers doing our best to save lives.
And sometimes the kindest thing you can do for a rescuer isn't ask for more—it's ask how you can help.

Meet Hairy Styles (black) and Ed Sheeren (red), two dogs who were recently abandoned at a local park.
Hairy Styles is believed to be a Schnauzer/Maltese mix. He is about 5 months old and weighs just under 12 pounds. He is a very sweet puppy who loves playing with his foster siblings and racing around the backyard.
Ed Sheeren is believed to be a Pomeranian mix. He is about 2 years old and weighs around 12 pounds. When he was rescued, he was frightened and unsure of his surroundings, often hiding in a corner of the backyard. With time, patience, and kindness, he gradually felt comfortable enough to come inside with the family. Ed was heavily infested with fleas, and groomers spent more than an hour removing them. He is also heartworm positive and will need treatment to help him live a healthy life. He is still settling into his foster home, and we look forward to seeing his personality continue to emerge.
Donations and adoptions have been slow, but we will always help Deby and Curtis with their rescues!!

Grooming cost $100, and vet care—including neuter, microchip, vaccines, and heartworm prevention—totaled $580. This does not include the cost of Eddie’s heartworm treatment. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps. If you can contribute to their care, we would be very grateful.
