๐Ÿ’” We need your help, TCAS family. ๐Ÿ’”

Sometimes the hardest part of animal welfare is saying yes when an animal desperately needs us, even when the cost is significant.

This week, we said yes to two animals who had nowhere else to turn.

๐Ÿพ Winter came to us after being surrendered by her owners to be euthanized because they did not want to spend the money needed for medical treatment. Winter was suffering from pyometra, a severe infection of the uterus that can quickly become fatal if left untreated. This painful condition is entirely preventable through spaying, but unfortunately Winter never received that chance.

Thankfully, our veterinary team was able to squeeze her into their surgery schedule at the very last minute and perform the emergency surgery she desperately needed to save her life.

๐Ÿพ Then there is little Legs.

This tiny kitten arrived over the weekend after a suspected vehicle accident. X-rays revealed devastating injuriesโ€”her femur was completely broken in half. After evaluating her condition, the veterinarian determined that amputation was the best option to give her a happy, pain-free future.

Once again, our veterinary team stepped up. They added her to their schedule and even stayed late after closing to ensure she received the care she needed.

Because of their dedication, both Winter and Legs have a second chance at life.

But life-saving care comes at a cost.

Between emergency surgeries, medications, diagnostics, hospitalization, recovery care, and follow-up treatment, we are facing nearly $3,500 in medical expenses for these two animals alone.

We know times are tough, but if you are able to help, no donation is too small. Every dollar goes directly toward helping animals like Winter and Legs receive the care they need when they have nowhere else to turn.

Without the support of our community, we could not say yes to cases like these.

โค๏ธ Winter and Legs are not currently available for adoption as they recover, but we hope they will be ready to find loving homes in the coming weeks.

Today, we are asking for your help so we can continue being there for animals when they need us most.

Please consider making a donation and sharing this post.

From all of us at TCAS, from Winter, and from little Legsโ€”thank you. Your support gave these two a future they may not have otherwise had.

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿพ Meet the Leadership Team of the 100 Day Club! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŽ‰

At The Colony Animal Services, we have a club that no dog wants to be a part ofโ€”the 100 Day Club. It means they've been waiting far too long for a family of their own. Today, we're highlighting our President and Vice President, who combined have spent an unbelievable 330 days waiting for a forever home.

๐Ÿ‘‘ President Noelle โ€“ 176 Days Waiting

Noelle is a 3.5-year-old spayed Pit Bull with a gorgeous blue and white coat and a personality that shines once you get to know her. She loves rolling in the grass, playing with toys, going for car rides, and showing off her leash-walking skills. Noelle knows how to sit, takes treats gently, and is incredibly affectionate with the people she trusts. While she can be vocal in her kennel, volunteers know that's just her way of asking for a chance to get out and spend time with people. She would do best with a calm male dog or as the center of attention in her own home.

๐Ÿฅˆ Vice President Nemo โ€“ 154 Days Waiting

Nemo is a 6.5-year-old neutered Retriever mix with a heart as big as his smile. This handsome gentleman enjoys long walks, exploring the outdoors, and spending quality time with his people. He would love a home with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy the fresh air. Nemo is dog-selective and would like slow introductions to any potential canine friends, but what he wants most is a family to call his own. He's the perfect blend of active and affectionate.

Combined, these two amazing dogs have spent 330 days in the shelter waiting for someone to choose them.

330 days of watching other dogs go home.
330 days of sleeping in a kennel.
330 days of hoping each new visitor might be "the one."

Both Noelle and Nemo have so much love left to give, and we know their perfect families are out there somewhere. Help us make sure they don't spend another day wondering when their turn will come.

๐Ÿก Interested in meeting Noelle or Nemo? Stop by the shelter and see why our President and Vice President deserve to retire from the 100 Day Club once and for all.

Please share to help these deserving pups find the homes they've been waiting for! โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Riley's Reading Round-Up

Founded by Riley Bourbon-Neisz, Riley's Reading Round-Up is a unique community reading program held at The Colony Animal Shelter where children bring their favorite books and read aloud to shelter animals. This special experience benefits both the children and the animalsโ€”reading helps calm and comfort the animals while giving young readers an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen their literacy skills, and practice reading in a supportive environment.

Riley created this program to encourage children to become involved in their community and discover the importance of giving back, just as she did when she was young. Through reading, compassion, and service, participants can make a meaningful difference in the lives of shelter animals while developing valuable skills of their own.

Program Details
โ€ข Sessions are held on select dates:
โ—ฆ Session 1: 1:30 PM โ€“ 2:15 PM
โ—ฆ Session 2: 2:45 PM โ€“ 3:30 PM
โ€ข Participation is limited to 5 children per session
โ€ข Children must bring their own reading material
โ€ข A parent or guardian must remain present with their child(ren) throughout the session
โ€ข Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the session so Riley can go over the shelter rules with the children.

Donations!
While participation is free, donations are greatly appreciated. All donations go directly to the medical fund at The Colony Animal Services to help provide care and treatment for animals in need. Donations are completely voluntary and are not required to participate.

Join us for an afternoon of reading, learning, and making a positive impactโ€”one story at a time! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒฒ Looking for an Adventure Buddy? Meet Sandy! ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sandy is a 1.5-year-old spayed Retriever mix with energy to spare and a zest for life that's impossible not to love! If you're searching for a dog who will happily join you on hikes, long walks, outdoor adventures, or even become your running companion, Sandy might just be your perfect match.

This active girl is always ready for her next adventure and would thrive with a family that can keep both her mind and body busy. Whether you're exploring a new trail, spending the day at the park, or simply enjoying an active lifestyle, Sandy will be right by your side, tail wagging the entire way.

Like many young dogs, Sandy is still working on her manners and can be a little exuberant when she's excited. Because of this, she would do best in a home without small children. She'll need a family committed to continuing her training and helping her become the best version of herself.

Sandy has so much love to give and is ready to trade shelter life for a forever home filled with adventure, fun, and plenty of belly rubs. โค๏ธ

Come meet Sandy and see if your next adventure partner has been waiting for you all along!

๐Ÿ“„๐Ÿพ Attention all Office fans... your favorite coworkers are looking for a forever home! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ“„

Meet The Office Kittens: Michael, Jim, and Dwight! These 5-month-old neutered boys are ready to clock out of shelter life and into loving homes.

๐Ÿ–ค Michael is a handsome solid black kitten with plenty of charm and personality.

๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค Jim and Dwight are adorable tuxedo boys dressed to impress and always ready for fun.

Like their namesakes, these boys bring plenty of entertainment wherever they go! They are playful, affectionate, curious, and full of kitten energy. Whether they're chasing toys, wrestling with their feline friends, or curling up for a nap after a busy day, they're guaranteed to keep you smiling.

Because they are still young and social, they would love a home with another friendly cat to keep them company and help them continue building their confidence and social skills.

๐Ÿก Ready to add a little comedy and a lot of love to your life?

These boys are available for adoption now, but don't wait! Adoptions are first come, first serve, so be sure to stop by the shelter as soon as possible or check our website to see if they are still available.

Who needs Dunder Mifflin when you could have your very own Office crew at home? โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿšจ Kitten Food SOS! ๐Ÿšจ

Our shelves are looking a little bare, and we're officially down to our last bag of kitten dry food! ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’”

Right now, we have lots of growing kittens in our care, and keeping their tiny tummies full is a top priority. We use Purina ONE Healthy Kitten Dry Food, and we're in need of donations to help us keep up with the demand.

The good news? It's easy to find! You can purchase it at just about any store that sells pet food, including Walmart, Target, Kroger, PetSmart, Petco, and more.

Want to make it even easier? You can order directly from our Amazon Wishlist, and it will be shipped straight to the shelter:
๐Ÿ›’https://a.co/01ZHtZXx

A quick note for all of our kitten lovers: the kittens currently in our care are not old enough for adoption just yet. They still have some growing to do before they're ready to find their forever homes! โค๏ธ Be sure to keep an eye on our website, which is always kept up to date with the animals currently available for adoption.

Every bag of food helps us provide the nutrition these little ones need to grow healthy and strong. We are so grateful for the continued support from our amazing community. Thank you for helping us care for our tiniest residents! ๐Ÿพ
