🐱Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) Vaccine Awareness🐱

The Feline Leukemia (FeLV) vaccine is considered a lifestyle vaccine for cats. While it is recommended for all kittens, ongoing vaccination for adult cats is based on their risk of exposure.
FeLV is a contagious virus that can weaken a cat's immune system and increase the risk of serious illnesses, including certain cancers. It is spread through close contact with infected cats, such as grooming, sharing food and water bowls, or bite wounds.
Cats who spend time outdoors, live with FeLV-positive cats, or may come into contact with unknown cats are at higher risk and may benefit from continued vaccination.

💉 Immunization Awareness Month: Protecting Your Canine Companion Pt 2! 🐶
Leptospirosis is a zoonotic bacterial disease, meaning it can affect both dogs and humans. Dogs can become infected through contact with contaminated water, soil, or urine from infected wildlife and rodents. In severe cases, it can cause serious damage to the kidneys and liver.
Leptospirosis is now considered a core vaccine for the majority of dogs, regardless of whether they live in a rural, suburban, or urban environment.
Vaccination typically begins at 9 - 12 weeks of age and requires a booster 3–4 weeks later. Dogs with no previous or unknown vaccine history also require an initial vaccine and booster, while previously vaccinated dogs generally receive annual boosters to maintain protection.
Many people associate leptospirosis with rural or hunting dogs, but exposure can occur anywhere, making vaccination an important part of preventive care for many dogs.
Talk with your veterinarian about whether the leptospirosis vaccine is right for your dog's lifestyle and risk factors. 🐾

Blind dogs can still play, learn, explore, and form incredible bonds with their families. With patience, consistency, and a safe environment, they often adapt remarkably well and continue to enjoy the activities they love.
Some ways to help a blind dog thrive:
• Keep furniture and household layouts consistent
• Use verbal cues and positive reinforcement
• Avoid leaving obstacles in walkways
• Be patient as they learn and navigate their surroundings
Most importantly, remember that blind dogs don't focus on what they've lost—they focus on the love, comfort, and companionship around them.
