✨ Today’s Saturday Spotlight shines on our incredible Practice Manager, Taylor Decker! ✨

Taylor has been by Dr. Rowley’s side since she graduated from veterinary school in 2012. They have been through quite a bit together, and at this point, they can practically finish each other’s sentences. 🤍

Taylor is truly the heart of Team BHV. She is one of the most dedicated, compassionate, and hardworking people you’ll ever meet, and an incredibly talented veterinary technician to top it all off. Her heart for our patients, their families, and our team is evident in everything she does.

Thank you, Taylor, for everything you do for the pets, the people, and the entire BHV family. We are so grateful for you! 🐾✨

🐱✨ Breed Spotlight: The Exotic Shorthair ✨🐱

Often described as a Persian in pajamas, the Exotic Shorthair has the same sweet personality and irresistibly smooshy face as the Persian—but with a short, plush coat! 🩷

Their unique features can also predispose them to a few health concerns, including:

🐾 Brachycephalic airway issues due to their flat facial structure
👁️ Eye problems & excessive tearing, including corneal disease
🦷 Dental crowding and malocclusion
🫀 Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)
🩺 Polycystic kidney disease (PKD), an inherited condition that can be screened for
🧴 Skin and facial-fold issues

Regular wellness exams are especially important for these adorable cats so we can identify subtle problems early and keep them feeling their best.

🐾 Sometimes medicine is a science… and sometimes it’s a mystery! 🔎🩺

Buddy came to us yesterday with sudden, labored breathing and respiratory distress. Dr. Fabrizi and our team acted quickly — oxygen, medications to help him relax and breathe easier, and diagnostics to find the cause.

The plot twist? His bloodwork and X-rays looked completely normal. 🤔

When medicine doesn’t give us a clear answer, sometimes we have to “treat for the treatable” and see how our patient responds.

Thankfully, Buddy responded beautifully and is doing great today! 💙🐶

Not every case comes with a clear diagnosis — sometimes a little magic and a sprinkle of guesswork is part of the job. 🕵️‍♀️🩺
