Rhea is available to the right home. She is a well started pup and has been working her whole life. She’s been with ducks, geese, pigs and goats, including piglets and with young goats 6 weeks old and up. She was born 8/15/25 so she is still a puppy and occasionally has her playful moments. She keeps track of where all the animals are, and she’s a good worker. She can be stubborn and thrives with firm boundaries and consistent routine. She is used to a large pack and must go to a home with livestock guardian dogs (preferably more than one). She is tether trained and has been trained to poly rope electric fencing.

This boy is doing so well up the mountain with his buck goats. As soon as I come into their paddock he is glued to me, refuses to leave my side. He’s so respectful, doesn’t test the fence, doesn’t rush me when I come to feed him and his partners. He’s such a soft boy with us and his pack, but heaven help you if you come into his territory uninvited. His stunning brindle coloring provides him with exceptional camouflage, so you won’t even know he’s there until you see his gleaming white teeth 😁

We have a sad announcement. Athena only had one puppy and she didn’t make it. Athena is healthy but sad and mourning her baby. We are all devastated but grateful that Athena is ok. We apologize to everyone who was hoping for a pup from this litter and will update with any new breeding announcements.

Athena is still holding her hostages…. 😅😅

In other news, Lenora must’ve gotten into a scuffle with someone because she got a big open gash in her front leg. We didn’t notice it straightaway so it’s being stubborn with healing up. We’ve had her in the house for a while now to monitor it and limit her activity. She HATES being inside. She’s our hardest worker on the property, always making the rounds and checking the perimeter. I really should put the GPS tracker on her to see how many miles she clocks each day. Anyways, she does NOT like being inside, she wants to go back to work, but she is tolerating this so well. She’s not whining or howling, she’s not being destructive, she’s not trying to push her way through the door, she’s not counter surfing no matter what’s left out for her to help herself to, she lets us work on her (shaving, stapling, cleaning, etc), she lets the baby do whatever he wants (his newest thing is leaning back on them like he’s in a recliner lol)… in short, she’s perfect even though she wants to be outside more than anything. We let her down into the lower paddock to get a little exercise and she went around to every single piglet to check on them. She hadn’t seen them since they were born but she moved cautiously among them and carefully said her hellos to everyone. She’s the kind of dog who keeps count of her charges and knows exactly where each one of them is.

Jaro and his son Kodiak, currently guarding our buck goats up in the woods. Kodiak has always been excessively submissive with his superiors, which is a little ironic since out of the 3 brothers Kodiak is by far the most capable fighter. Sammy and Warren have both challenged their father and were promptly put in the dirt. Jaro is starting to show his age (7 now!) but he’s still very decidedly our Alpha male.

A couple nights ago, the dogs were all going nuts up along the perimeter fence (across from which are hundreds of acres of wild timberlands) and the next morning we learned a cougar was sighted at the property just south of us. Our neighbors are keeping their livestock locked up and close watch over their pets, meanwhile my entire flock comes and goes as they please without a care in the world. That cat is smart enough to find an easier meal elsewhere.

I think it’s safe to say Benno is fitting in quite nicely here as a family/property guardian! He’s so patient with our baby!
