Matthew Cyrus Walters

Matthew Cyrus Walters, lovingly known as “Chewie,” died on September 3, 2026, in Temple, Texas, after long time liver issues. He was born on August 2, 1978, in Temple, and remained deeply connected to the community that shaped his life and received so much of his heart in return.

Matthew graduated from Temple High School and continued his education at Temple College, pursuing an IT degree. Growing up in a news reporter home, he developed an early interest in what was happening around town and in local events, a curiosity that stayed with him throughout his life. During his junior year, he met Amanda Haas and knew he was going to spend the rest of his life with her. Together they married and were blessed with their twins.

He worked in the IT field and also expanded his efforts as a philanthropist, helping, working, and volunteering with various non-profits. His community was his passion. He especially loved bringing joy to children, whether appearing as local Santa Claus or as Chewbacca at Bell County Comic Con. In every setting, Matthew brought enthusiasm, generosity, and a spirit of fun that made people feel welcome.

Matthew was known for having a larger-than-life personality and an equally large servant’s heart. He had an infectious laugh, a gift for dad jokes, and a reputation for happily taking over a microphone whenever the opportunity arose. He was fun, sweet, and caring, and to many he was the Comic Con dad, everyone’s best friend, and a brother in spirit as much as in family. He also enjoyed playing board games and electronic games, and he delighted in putting his wide and wonderfully random store of knowledge to use in trivia.

Above all, Matthew was devoted to his family. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Amanda Walters, and by their children, Michael Walters and Ashleigh Walters. He is also survived by his sisters, Stephanie Post and Sarah Watson. The love he shared with his family was at the center of his life, and his memory will continue to live on in the stories, laughter, and warmth they carry forward.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Walters, and his mother, Glynnis Walters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Young’s Daughters Funeral Home & Bereavement Center, 4235 E. US Hwy 190, Temple, TX 76501. A funeral service will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location. In honor of Matt, attendees are asked to wear purple to the services. Burial will follow at Greathouse Cemetery, 2343 East FM 93 near State Hwy 95, Temple, TX 76502.

Matthew Cyrus Walters will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, his service, and the joy he so freely gave to others. His life touched family, friends, and community in lasting ways, and his memory will be cherished always.

Jean Dorothy Stager

Jean Dorothy Stager, née Winters, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her community home in Bartlett, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1948, in Patterson, New Jersey.

Jean will be remembered for the simple joys that brought her happiness and for the warmth she found in the community around her. She loved playing bingo, and attending each week was something she truly looked forward to. Her community at Will-O-Bell was both home and family to her, and she shared her days there enjoying dominoes, watching movies, and welcoming the comforts of familiar routines. She had a special love for animals and treasured her many stuffed animals. Visits from dogs to the community brought her particular delight. She also cherished her rest and the vivid dreams that carried her into worlds of her own, dreams she enjoyed so much that she disliked having them interrupted. Among her favorite treats were ice cream socials, Dr Pepper, and Lay’s potato chips.

She is survived by her children, Jesse Stager, Hank Stager, Michal Burton, and Tammy Stager, who carry forward her memory with love. She is also survived by her brothers, John Winters and Amos Winters.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Charles Winters; her mother, Helen Winters; and her son, Matthew Stager.

Those who knew Jean will remember a woman who found meaning in companionship, comfort in her home community, and happiness in the familiar pleasures of everyday life. Her memory will remain with her family, her friends, and all who shared in the life she made at Will-O-Bell.

Ilene Phyllis Kaplan

ILENE PHYLLIS KAPLAN February 7, 1941 ~ August 22, 2026

Ilene Phyllis Kaplan was born on February 7, 1941, in Brooklyn NY, to Louis and Sally Remson. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 85, in Waco. Ilene spent many years working in the insurance industry and owned an employment agency, while raising her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, and the outdoors. She loved her pets, especially dachshunds.In 1962, Ilene married her love, Samuel Joseph Kaplan in Brooklyn, NY, and together they had 2 children, and were married for 52 years.She was preceded in death by husband, Samuel Joseph Kaplan, and her parents, Louis and Sally Remson.Ilene is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Nelson and husband Bryan of Troy, and Alise Kaplan of Temple, and her brother Howard Remson in NY.

Michael Stanley Kujawski

Michael Stanley Kujawski, known affectionately as Mike and Papa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in McGregor, Texas, while watching his favorite show, American Pickers. He was born on June 25, 1946, in Gary, Indiana to Stephen Kujawski and Mary (Heath) Kujawski.

Michael’s life was marked by dedication to both country and career. After being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam Era, he went on to build a long professional life with Dow Chemicals, where he served as a manager until his retirement. He was also committed to education, graduating from River Forest High School in Indiana and continuing his studies at Notre Dame University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

He will be remembered with love by his family. Michael is survived by his daughter, Briana Kujawski, and her husband, Javier; his sons, Michael Kujawski Jr., Mark Kujawski, and Robert Kujawski; his brother, Steve Kujawski, and Steve’s wife, Kathy; his sister, Stephanie Stogner; and several grandchildren, including Xavier Gomez, Sader Gomez, and Oliver Gomez. He held a cherished place in the lives of those who knew him, and the name Papa reflects the warmth and affection that surrounded him within his family.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Kujawski; his mother, Mary (Heath) Kujawski; and his brother, Eddie Kujawski.

A burial service will be held at Green Hills LA, 27501 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, California 9027 5 at a later date.

Michael Stanley Kujawski will be remembered for a life of service, hard work, and devotion to family. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

Regina Gaye Camacho

Regina Gaye Camacho, affectionately known as Gina, passed away peacefully in Temple, Texas, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was born on March 21, 1967, in Gatesville, Texas, and will be remembered with deep love by all who knew her.

Gina’s life was centered on family, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing to those closest to her. She is survived by her son, Gabriel Camacho, and by her two daughters, Natasha Camacho and Elissia Lizardo. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Laurine Dawkins and Lily Speir, and a brother, Carl Hudspeth whose bond with her was part of the fabric of her life.

Her love extends through the generations in the lives of her cherished grandchildren, Bella, Chloe, Braylon, Brooklyn, Bailee, Dakota, Johnny, and Camden. Each of them carries forward a part of her presence, and they will continue to hold her in their hearts with tenderness and pride.

Gina was preceded in death by her father, Carl Hudspeth, and her mother, Josette (Moore) Hudspeth. Their memory remained part of her story, and now she rests in peace with those who went before her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holland Cemetery, 11450 Holland Cemetery Rd, Holland, Texas 76534.

Shirlene Kay Becraft

Shirlene Kay (Walker) Becraft, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 83. She was born on May 29, 1943, in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia.

Shirlene was known as a fun, spunky, and loving woman who carried herself with a great attitude. Her warmth and spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She built a successful career working for Sprint as a CPA, bringing dedication and professionalism to her work. Among the accomplishments she held with pride was being named Woman of the Year through AWBA in 1988–1989, an honor that reflected her commitment and achievement.

Outside of her work, Shirlene found enjoyment in quilting and reading. These interests were part of the life she created with care and individuality, and they brought her both comfort and satisfaction over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Milissa Pittsenbarger, and her husband, Ronald Pittsenbarger. Her family also includes her granddaughter, Kailey Necessary, and her husband, Corky Necessary, as well as her great grandchildren Hayzen and Sterling Necessary. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Tzystuck, and Linda’s husband, Fred. Each of them carries forward the memory of her loving presence and spirited nature.

Shirlene was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Becraft; her daughters, Sherry Lynn Cook and April Blackmore; her grandson, Jordan Paul Pietz; her father, Carl Walker; her mother, Margie Vandall Walker; her brothers, John L. Walker and Freddie Walker; and her sister, Opal Goode.

Shirlene will be remembered with love for her strength of character, her lively personality, and the care she gave to her family and friends. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
