To Our Valued Clients,

Over the past few months, we've received many comments and concerns from clients who have been unable to get an appointment for their pets. We understand how frustrating that can be, and we want to explain what is happening behind the scenes.

Since January, Animal Medical Care has gone from four veterinarians to just two. Despite this, we are continuing to run a schedule designed for three doctors, with appointments every 15 minutes, so that we can help as many pets as possible each
day.

We sincerely apologize when we are unable to see your pet. We are doing everything we can to provide care to as many families as possible. We do continue to accept walk-in patients, but availability is limited and depends on the number of emergencies and
scheduled appointments each day.

We ask for your patience—and your kindness.

Our reception team is working incredibly hard. On July 6, 2026, just one day, we reviewed our phone records and found that we received 272 calls that day while maintaining a 93% answer rate. That volume means our receptionists are constantly answering calls, placing callers on hold, checking with medical staff, and returning to waiting clients as quickly as possible. If you are placed on hold, please know they have not forgotten about you. They are doing their very best to help every caller.

The challenges we are facing are not unique to our hospital. Veterinary medicine is experiencing a nationwide shortage of veterinarians. In Texas alone, there are approximately 2,600 open veterinarian positions. Across the entire United States, only
about 4,000 new veterinarians graduate each year. Filling Texas' openings alone would require nearly three-quarters of all new graduates.

Here in the Temple area, I have practiced for 15 years. During that time, only one new veterinary clinic has opened, while one clinic in Belton has closed. That means our area has seen essentially no growth in the number of veterinary hospitals, even though our
community's population has nearly doubled. More people means more pets needing care, but the number of veterinarians available has not kept pace.

We know that when your pet is sick or injured, waiting is difficult. Please know that every member of our team comes to work each day with the goal of helping as many pets as possible while providing safe, quality medical care.
