Spring means warmer weather, blooming flowers… and lots of baby animals! 🐣🌸
If you come across a baby animal, your first instinct might be to help, but in many cases, the best thing you can do is give them space. Wild parents often leave their babies alone for short periods while they search for food.
Here’s what to do:
🐾 Observe from a distance. If the baby looks healthy and isn’t in immediate danger, mom is likely nearby.
🐾 Leave them where they are. Moving them can actually reduce their chances of survival.
🐾 Keep pets and people away. This helps prevent stress and gives the parent a chance to return.
🐾 Only intervene if necessary. If the animal appears injured, is in immediate danger, or you’re certain it’s been orphaned, contact us at (254) 298-5732.
Well-meaning help can sometimes do more harm than good. When in doubt, give wildlife the space they need to grow and thrive.
