Because many horses can shed the virus while remaining asymptomatic, the AZDA and our clinic recommend the following for anyone who attended these events:
1. Monitor Temperatures: Take re**al temperatures twice daily. Log these results to identify any trends or sudden spikes.
2. Watch for Symptoms: Be alert for any respiratory distress or neurologic signs (unsteadiness, weakness, or difficulty urinating).
3. Self-Quarantine: We strongly advise a 14-day voluntary quarantine from new shows if your horse was present at any of the listed locations.
4. Prompt Reporting: If you suspect an infection, contact your veterinarian immediately for testing (nasal swabs and whole blood PCR).
Weโll continue to monitor and post updates if new travel requirements for horses entering Utah are released. Stay safe out there on the road.
