Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

💚🐾 See ya later, Hannah! 🐾💚

It’s never easy saying goodbye to a team member, especially one who has grown so much during her time with us! 🥹

Hannah started her journey at VCA Pet Medical Center as an extern while attending school, and we’ve loved watching her grow along the way. She was awarded a scholarship for the VCA Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) program, which she is currently working through! 🎓💚

Now, Hannah is off to her next adventure, continuing to care for patients in emergency and specialty medicine! 🐶🐱 We’re so proud of everything she’s accomplished so far and can’t wait to see where her veterinary journey takes her next.

Hannah, thank you for being part of our team and for the care you’ve given our patients. We’ll miss having you around, but we’re cheering you on every step of the way! This isn’t goodbye… it’s SEE YA LATER! 🐾💚

😂 When Karessa, our RVT, and Hannah, our Veterinary Assistant, take their job a little TOO seriously…

They were getting supplies together to prep for our patients when they somehow managed to “accidentally” knock the entire pile over. 👀🤣

But hey… maybe this was just their way of making sure every single supply was accounted for. 😏

And then there’s Pickles, who literally stood up like, “Umm… WHAT is happening over here?!” 🐱😂

Patient prep? ✔️
Supply organization? ✔️
Gravity testing? ✔️
Confusing Pickles? ✔️
Job seriously taken? ABSOLUTELY. 😂🐾

🐶💉 Brady’s day at the spa… I mean, vet! 😂❤️

Brady the Jack Russell came in for his vaccines, Librela & Cytopoint, and of course, he made sure to collect his favorite part of every visit… BELLY RUBS! 🥰

🩺 Vitals & care: Our Registered Veterinary Technician Kiera helped Brady with his vitals and treatments, making sure our handsome guy was comfortable and well cared for throughout his visit. ❤️

💉 Vaccines — keeping Brady protected and ready for more adventures! 🐾

🦴 Librela — helping keep his achy joints more comfortable so he can keep doing all the things he loves. ❤️

🐾 Cytopoint — helping keep those pesky allergy itches under control so Brady can spend less time scratching and more time being his adorable self!

And because Brady is a very important boy, his visit also included plenty of love, attention, and a prescription?

One belly rub… with unlimited refills. 😂❤️

Senior or not, we want Brady feeling comfortable, protected and ready to enjoy life! 🐾❤️

🐾💗 Meet Ruby! 💗🐾

Ruby is an adorable 18-week-old Pit Bull who came in for her very first visit with us! 🥰

She may be new to VCA Pet Medical Center, but she’s already making herself VERY comfortable. 😍🐶

✨ First visit ✔️
✨ Puppy cuteness ✔️
✨ Making new friends ✔️
✨ Stealing everyone’s hearts ✔️✔️✔️

And before heading home, Ruby had one very important appointment left… puppy cuddle time! 🥹💕 Our Client Service Representative Marcus simply couldn’t let this sweet girl leave without sneaking in a few extra snuggles. 🐶🫶

Because sometimes the front desk has to pause for emergency puppy cuddles. 😍😂

Welcome to the VCA Pet Medical Center family, Ruby! We can’t wait to watch you grow! 🐾💗

🐾💅 Teddy’s Paw-dicure Day! 💅🐾

Teddy: “My mom said we were going to work together today… she failed to mention the nail trim.” 👀😂

Teddy came in for a little paw-dicure with his mom, Vet Assistant Kaylan, and let’s just say… he had some feelings about it. 😆🐶

Mom’s job: ✂️ Trim the nails

Teddy’s job: 🥺 Look adorable

Teddy’s strategy: Distract everyone with his puppy eyes.

Thankfully, Kaylan knows all his tricks—and Teddy left with fresh nails, happy paws, and his dignity mostly intact. 😂❤️

Tiny paws. Big attitude. Professional good boy. 🐾

👂✨ Pixie’s ears got some TLC! ✨👂

Pixie came in for an ear cytology, cleaning and treatment for an ear infection — and while those adorable ears may look innocent, ear infections can be itchy, painful, and pretty sneaky! 🐶💕

Our Veterinary Assistant Hannah helped with Pixie’s ear cleaning and treatment… and apparently, that cleaning felt SO good that Pixie literally smiled! 🥹🐾 Talk about a five-star ear spa! ✨👂

And of course, Pixie made sure to thank Hannah with lots of kisses! 😘💕

🔬 Why do an ear cytology?
An ear cytology lets our veterinary team take a closer look at what’s actually living in the ear. 🦠 Yeast? Bacteria? A little of both? Cytology helps identify the problem so we can choose the right treatment for the right infection instead of guessing.

🧼 Regular ear care matters!
Keeping your pet’s ears clean and checking them regularly can help catch problems early. Redness, odor, discharge, scratching, head shaking, or sensitivity around the ears can all be signs that something isn’t quite right.

And remember — clean ears are happy ears! 🐾💗

Oh, and don’t worry about the dog crying in the background! 😂🐶 He wasn’t being dramatic… he just REALLY wanted to join the kiss party too! 💋🐾

Pixie left with happier, healthier ears, a big smile, and Hannah got plenty of puppy kisses!

🐾 Senior Wellness Day for sweet Mistii! 💕

Mistii is getting the full CareClub Senior Work-Up today with Karessa, RVT, by her side! 🐾🩺

Her visit includes:
🩸 Bloodwork
❤️ Blood pressure
🩻 Chest & abdominal X-rays
💉 Vaccines
🩺 A thorough senior wellness assessment

As our pets get older, some health changes can develop quietly—before we notice anything is wrong at home. That’s why preventive senior care and early screening are so important.

✨ Finding changes early can give your veterinarian more information, more treatment options, and the opportunity to help keep your pet feeling their best for as long as possible.

Because our senior pets deserve more healthy, happy days by our side. ❤️🐾

Go, Mistii! We’re keeping this sweet girl in tip-top shape! 🥰

🍩 Meadow’s Post-Op Report 🍩

Status: Spayed. Sleepy. Snack-motivated. ✅

Meadow had her spay surgery today and is already looking absolutely paw-some in her new donut e-collar. 😂💗

She may be wondering why she suddenly has a giant donut around her head… but we’re calling it fashion AND function. 🍩✨

🐾 Fun fact: Spaying not only helps prevent unwanted litters, but also provides important health benefits and helps reduce the risk of certain reproductive diseases.

For now, Meadow’s only jobs are:
😴 Rest
🍪 Accept snacks
🚫 Leave her incision alone
🍩 Continue serving looks

Get well soon, sweet Meadow! We think you wear the donut quite well. 💕🐾
