The following photos show a severe injury and open wounds. We’re sharing them to highlight the reality of rescue, the extent of Leo’s injury, and the incredible progress he has made in just one week.

🍀🐾 Meet Lucky Lil Leo.

One week ago, we received a call from a family we’ve worked with for TNR and assistance in caring for a feral cats around their home.
⚠️They found a tiny kitten tangled in a soccer net. As he struggled to escape, the net tightened around his front leg, cutting off circulation and causing severe tissue damage.⚠️

✨Since then, Leo has seen three veterinary teams. Initial exams and x-rays confirmed his leg wasn’t broken, but infection developed quickly. He was treated with antibiotics and pain medication at one of our trusted clinics before being referred to Metropolitan’s emergency and specialty team, whose treatment plan is finally helping him improve.

The photos tell the story.🧡

The first image shows what we jokingly called Leo’s “Hulk Arm”—a severely swollen leg that he continued trying to use despite the injury. The swelling, pressure, discoloration, and infection worsened rapidly, but after a week of daily bandage changes, antibiotics, pain management, and follow-up care, the improvement has been remarkable.

Leo’s finders and foster family have been taking him to daily appointments and bandage changes showing incredible dedication throughout his recovery. We’re deeply grateful for people willing to partner with us to save lives.😻

And Leo has won hearts everywhere he goes. Every veterinarian, technician, and caregiver who meets him falls in love with this sweet little fighter.🐾

We named him Lucky Lil Leo because he ended up in the right soccer net, in the right backyard, and was found by exactly the right people. ⚽️ 🥅

So far, his care has cost approximately $1,000. Thanks to several amazing veterinary teams and a treatment plan focused on both quality care and cost-conscious decisions, we’ve been able to keep expenses manageable while giving Leo exactly what he needs.

Leo has a will to survive, a will to heal, and a chance to someday run, play, and use that leg the way a kitten should.✅🐾

♥︎His story is also a reminder of why KMSR exists. He’s why we answer difficult calls, why we say “yes,” and why we need supporters like you.

🐾 As some of you who visit Petco in Quakertown may have noticed, our sweet boy Dorian has gone into a short-term foster home for medical care. Don’t worry—he’s still as happy as ever, purring up a storm and soaking up endless cuddles. ❤️ He does need some dental work, though, which temporarily opened up all of our habitats, something that rarely happens!❤️‍🩹

It was a nice one-day break, but as of today, three precious new cats have joined us at Petco! 🏡✨

🌸 Calla

First, we have Calla, a petite tabico (calico-tabby mix) estimated to be around 2 years old. She was found outside in Northeast Philly searching for food and shelter. It was clear she didn’t belong on the streets. 💔

Calla was wearing an old, ragged collar that had obviously been on far too long. Though a bit thin, she immediately sought out attention and affection, eager to be loved once again. 🥰 She’s a sweet, gentle girl who deserves a family to call her own. Humans have already failed her. It is our mission to see that does not happen again.💜🙏

🖤🤍 Freya

Next up is Freya, a young black-and-white beauty, estimated to be only about 1½ to 2 years old. She was also found in Northeast Philly wearing what appeared to be an old flea and tick collar that had become completely discolored with age.

Despite whatever she’s been through, Freya is an absolute overachiever when it comes to affection and gentleness. 💕

When she arrived at the clinic, everyone thought she was a healthy young cat. However, during her exam, it was discovered that she was suffering from pyometra, a serious and potentially life-threatening uterine infection. Thankfully, it was caught in time and treated before it became an emergency. 🙏

Freya has bounced right back and is ready to leave her past behind. She isn’t fazed by barking dogs 🐶, neighboring cats 🐱, or the busy Petco environment. We think she’d fit beautifully into many different types of homes, including one with children. ❤️

💙 Sylas (“Sy”)

Last but certainly not least is Sylas, affectionately known as Sy. This stunning blue-eyed gentleman has the looks and the personality to match. 😍

At first he seemed timid and unsure, but within seconds of settling into his habitat, he completely opened up. He rolled onto his back for belly rubs, sought out affection, gave head bumps, and happily accepted every cuddle and scratch offered to him. 🥹

Sy was found outside a public housing complex after suddenly appearing at a feeding station. He stood out like a sore thumb—dusty, dirty, and clearly struggling on the streets alone. 💔 Yet despite whatever challenges he faced, he remains incredibly gentle and loving.

It’s obvious he knows and craves human companionship. Sy is more than ready for a forever home and would make an amazing addition to a lucky family. He’s truly a giant teddy bear in a handsome package. 🧸💙

🏡 Stop by Petco in Quakertown and meet Calla, Freya, and Sy. One of them just might be the missing piece your family has been waiting for.

🧡 From Tomcat to Teddy Bear: Jasper’s Second Chance 🧡

🐈✨Meet Jasper. ✨🐾
Jasper is one of our senior boys who spent his life as an unneutered tomcat. You can see it in his scruffy appearance, his big handsome head, and the scars that tell stories of years spent surviving on the streets.

What you can’t tell just by looking at him is that Jasper is an absolute teddy bear who has been searching for love all along. 🥹

Jasper came from a porch in Norristown. Last week, while I was at the clinic, I happened to meet him. I asked his trapper what the plan was for him after his neuter, and she assumed he would be returned outside.

Honestly, I understood why she thought that. Jasper is older. He’s beat up. He’s covered in scars from years of surviving. He’s been outside for so long that it probably seemed unlikely anyone would allow him time to adjust and want him.

But when I looked at him, all I saw was a cat who deserved a chance. 🧡

So I told her, “Well, I want him.”💝

I asked her to please give me the opportunity to find this sweet boy a home. ❤️

Though he’s beat up from the feet up and carrying a few fresh battle wounds, I have faith that we can help him heal and finally give him the life he’s always deserved—a life filled with soft beds, safety, cuddles, and absolutely no more street drama. 🏡
And when I say beat up, I mean it. ❤️‍🩹Jasper is covered in the evidence of a hard life outdoors. The side of his head is shaved from treating a wound, his tail bears battle scars, and even the top of his head shows signs of past fights. He has scabbing scattered throughout his coat, likely from flea dermatitis and years of exposure to the elements. His body tells the story of a cat who has spent far too long just trying to survive. 💔

But underneath all those scars is a gentle, loving boy who deserves the chance to finally heal—not just physically, but emotionally too. 🧡🐾

And can I tell you? Jasper is the coolest cat. 😻
The moment he was settled into his recovery cage, he laid down, rolled over, and just looked… relieved.💗
✨Truly relieved.
You could see it in his face and in his entire demeanor. It was as if he finally realized he didn’t have to fight anymore.

In my opinion, this is a cat who does not want to go back outside. He is happy to be safe. Happy to rest. Happy to know where his next meal is coming from. 🥰

So welcome to safety, Jasper. 💙

You may be somewhere between 7 and 9 years old, but you still have so much life left to live and so much love left to give. Your days of surviving are over.
❌No more fighting. 💔
❌No more freezing nights. ❄️
No more wondering where your next meal will come from. 🍽️
✅Just love. ❤️

✅Just comfort. 🛏️

✅Just home. 🏠

Someone wanted you, Jasper.

And now we’re going to help you find the family that wants you forever. ✨🐾

If you’d like to help us continue saying “yes” to cats like Jasper, donations are always appreciated. Senior cats and medical cases often need a little extra care, but they’re worth every bit of it. Thank you for helping us give cats like Jasper the second chance they deserve. 🧡🐱🐾
