🐾 Community Public Safety Meeting – You're Invited! 🐾
There’s been a lot of conversation lately about animal-related public safety concerns in our community, and this meeting is an opportunity for residents to come together, ask questions, learn about available resources, and be part of the solution.
Representatives from local agencies and community organizations will be discussing topics such as loose and stray animals, responsible pet ownership, emergency response, and ways residents can help make our neighborhoods safer for both people and pets.
You'll also learn about free and low-cost services available throughout the community, including:
• Vaccination and microchip clinics
• Spay and neuter assistance
• Pet food support programs
• Lost and found pet resources
Whether you're a pet owner, animal advocate, or simply a concerned community member, we encourage you to attend.

This sweet boy Swayze is learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Not long ago, he was on the euthanasia list with only hours left, but thanks to a lifesaving rescue, he got the second chance he deserved.
Now he's showing everyone just how loving, affectionate, and special he truly is. He adores people, loves attention, and is working hard on building his confidence every day. All he wants is a family to love and a place to finally call home. 🏡✨

Meekah Key is a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a personality that's impossible to resist. ❤️
This sweet girl is incredibly loyal and forms deep bonds with her people. She loves being part of the action, learning new things, and spending time with her favorite humans. Smart, eager to please, and always ready for fun, Meekah's favorite game is fetch—and she'll happily chase a ball as long as you'll throw it! 🎾
And if there's water involved? Even better! 💦 Meekah absolutely loves splashing around and having fun in the water, making her the perfect adventure buddy for beach days, lake trips, or backyard pool time.
She may have a little Husky in her because Meekah definitely has plenty to say. Her adorable "conversations" are all part of her charm.
Despite life's challenges, Meekah remains loving, resilient, and ready to find the family she's been waiting for.

Big Ole Marley is still somehow single and honestly it’s starting to feel personal. 😂

This giant lab/pitty mix is basically what would happen if a teddy bear came to life and learned how to drool. Marley has an incredible temperament, loves people, loves affection, and would happily spend the rest of his life believing he’s a 12-pound lap dog despite weighing approximately the same as a small refrigerator.

He’s goofy, gentle, affectionate, and the kind of dog who makes everyone instantly smile. Marley’s ideal day includes snacks, belly rubs, naps, following you around the house for absolutely no reason, and convincing strangers to pet him.

The best part? Underneath all that big goofy energy is just a really sweet soul who wants a family to love.

Slink is a young German Shepherd mix with a BIG personality and an even BIGGER love for people. Seriously — if there are humans nearby, that’s exactly where he wants to be! He’s playful, affectionate, dog-friendly, and always ready for the next adventure.
After being overlooked in the shelter for over a month, Slink got his second chance with Marley’s Mutts and absolutely THRIVED. He even graduated from our Pawsitive Change prison training program! 🎓🐶
Now all this happy boy needs is a family to call his own. A home with love, fun, continued training, and maybe even a playful pup sibling would be his dream come true.

Behind concrete walls and razor wire,
Men and mutts meet in shared fire.
Both discarded, both misunderstood,
Searching for purpose, searching for good.

A leash in hand.
A heart cracked open.
Redemption found in small moments spoken.

On A Yard in Tehachapi, hope still lives.
In every command, every paw, every man who gives.

Mutual rehabilitation.
Second chances earned.
Dogs and men healing together —
One soul at a time returned.

Pawsitive Change graduation days never stop moving me.

To watch these men and mutts root into their purpose, rehabilitate one another, and continue forward on a trajectory of hope, redemption, and opportunity is something truly powerful to witness.

Many of these dogs came from euthanasia lists, fear, neglect, or abandonment. Many of these men came from trauma, addiction, violence, and hopelessness. Yet together, through patience, accountability, structure, and love, they help heal one another.

That’s what this program is about.

Second chances.
Service.
Empathy.
Community.
Purpose.

I am incredibly proud of every student and every dog that walked this journey together. The transformation is real, and the ripple effects reach far beyond these prison walls.

Coconut’s amazing journey continues! She was a recently mauled very sick girl when we rescue her, but she has bounced back completely and officially welcomed herself into the PACK! Don’t get me wrong. We are not keeping her, the whole purpose of this post is to find her a loving home. I hope you like her little reel!

The state of animal welfare in America is heartbreaking. Nearly 1,000,000 shelter animals are euthanized every single year in this country. Innocent lives. Dogs and cats who feel fear, loneliness, joy, attachment, and love just like our own pets at home. Many of them die simply because there are not enough adopters, fosters, resources, or people paying attention.

We need a cultural shift in the way we view animals and in the way we value life itself.

Animal welfare cannot just belong to “animal people.” It has to become a broader conversation about empathy, responsibility, rehabilitation, community, and how we care for the vulnerable among us. We have to normalize adoption. Normalize spay and neuter. Normalize service. Normalize compassion.

At Marley’s Mutts and through our Pawsitive Change program, we see every day what happens when compassion is put into action. Rescue dogs help heal incarcerated men struggling with trauma, addiction, violence, and hopelessness. In return, those men help save dogs who were once discarded themselves. Both begin to understand their own worth through service, patience, structure, and love.

That’s the real work. Not just rescuing animals — but helping rebuild a culture that understands that vulnerable lives matter.

Dogs are medicine. Compassion is medicine. Service is medicine.

And we have a long way to go.
