Well, I haven’t been writing much lately. I haven’t been doing very well. I have lost weight, I eat but the # have really fallen off. I take it easy and mom takes good care of me. She still talks to me and I now occasionally stop and listen to her. Now I even get a can of food every day. What a treat. It isn’t working like she had hoped but I am almost 15 years old. I sleep during the day and spend the night going in and out the back door. When she hears me which is most of the time she always tells me hello. These cool nights are really welcome to me. Soon I will probably sleep out in the deck again. I love to sleep there when it is cool. My back yard is secure so I don’t have to worry about anyone coming and going. I just relax and rest. I still sleep during the day in my bedroom and listen for anyone coming up to the front of the house. I always bark and let mom know there is someone there. And she thanks me for the warning. Well thanks for reading. I think of you all often. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Mom and I are like roommates that work different shifts and pass one in and one out.

I’m not doing really well right now. I have lost weight and the arthritis is really bothering my legs and back. Will have an appointment soon and hope they can help me and find out why the weight loss.

Glad mom is home from Missouri. She no longer calls it home. She was so disappointed that the neighborhood she lived in as gone down hill so much. The home she loved and did so much too just okay, yard is a mess. And the neighbors moved and sold to a guy who repairs lawn mowers in the front yard. According to a city official codes is trying to clean it up but the judge continues the case. She is well known for that.

Said she is so glad she moved away and that Raytown is no longer “home” as it has been since we moved here. Now this is 🏡 .

It was so good to see friends and have time to catch up with everything. Had been so long and I know she missed everyone. Hopefully someone will come here to visit us. I miss seeing those I met before moving here too.

The Korean War Memorial Flag Day ceremony was really good this year. Fewer people there, but reason is understood. Think many are still afraid to come out and that is understandable. I know mom really enjoyed it too.

Well tomorrow is the 4th of July and so glad we won’t have to listen to the damn fireworks like in Raytown. What a waste of money, especially for those that can’t afford to buy school lunches for their kids, but buy $100 worth to shoot up for no reason.

Again she was so glad to see, Bridgett, Barb, Sue, Austin, Michelle, Dan and Mary Ellen, Cousin Mike and Diane, Cousin Doug, Cousin Angi and family, Dinah, all the BoD at our beloved Rice Tremonti Historic House, the police officers at KCPD that she rode with that Saturday night, Eldonna, and hopefully I didn’t miss anyone. If I so sorry. You know who I meant. She goes on and on about what a wonderful 3 weeks she had away visiting. Now it is time to get back to work here and go on.

So here we are a year into this change in our lives. So much has changed and will never be the same again. We don’t go anyplace and enjoy ourselves like we used to. But, that is okay. We have our backyard, our house and our safety. I get to do pretty much as I want to, go in and out, walk my yard, sleep where I want whether in my room, the sunroom in my new bed or the deck where I can stretch out on the futon or the nice wool rug. Wow, do I have the choices.

Mom had her left should done so the pain is gone. Has been a rough year alone, and missing her friends at home. Hasn’t been home in over a year and planning a trip has been hard. But she has one planned now, just can’t give the details now. It will be good to see everyone.

This February winter storm was pretty rough. She said there were many like that in Missouri through the years, and not having power and remembering the cold. When they lived in the old house there were winters they couldn’t get out because the snow was so deep.

Mom has been retired almost 10 years and is still enjoying being home and not having to get out and endure the traffic and rushing. We pretty much do what we want here at home and sleep late if we want.

Cousin Mat and family have purchased land to build a new place on and enjoy the country life. I hope they get to build soon. I can hardly wait to see the new place and get out and walk it.

Life here is pretty slow and nothing else to report. So until next time, enjoy and have fun.

It has been awhile since I wrote. Has been a rough summer with the heat and virus keeping us at home. Mom has stayed at home, and been working to stay healthy and not catch the virus. Last tested about a month ago and it still says negative.

Our home is so quiet and peaceful. Mom loves her sunroom looking out the back at the resort I manage and provide security. Our only problem are those pesky squirrels. And now they have decided to build a nest in one of the pecans trees. They tease me because they know I can’t reach them, they are way faster than I am. Mom keeps telling them she is going to shoot them with a BB Gun, but I know she won’t kill them. She’ll just shoot to run them off.

Hoping it works for her, Mom is planning on going home at Christmas to see friends. It is usually very quiet here for her and I hope she gets to go. I will have to put up with Tater but that is okay. I know she is lonely for her friends and family and misses them. We don’t see anyone really very often. And these local people are nice but they don’t make new friends easily. It has been hard and she has tried to get out and volunteer and help but response has been cold. That is okay, we will make it work.

Oh, and these darn pecans keep hitting the roof as they fall and sometimes very loud. Almost time to get out and start picking them up. Don’t think there will be as many as last year. She said the ones she has cracked are very tasty.

Mom is gearing up to start the greenhouse in February. Collecting seeds and pots, and need growing medium. Have 300 pots so maybe we will sell some plants. That might be fun. We will see.

Well that should catch you up for awhile. We are doing okay and love the quiet and safety we feel here. So glad we are not living at home anymore. Take care and remember we have a very LONELY guest room. Always available. No traveling next year. We will be home.

Well, mom spends all her time in the yard cleaning up, making an outside She-Shed and wearing herself out. Now she is having to take a few days off due to a bad left knee. I love her new room but I have to ask for a raise because now there is more acreage for me to watch and keep safe. And it is way to hot right now for extra patrolling. So, I have decided to take a week off and stay in my bedroom at the front of the house. I watch for invaders coming up the front walk and let them know I am there and they better be careful. Mom leaves the ceiling fan on for me because she keeps the AC turned up so high it doesn’t run much. But, I think about that new room and the really nice wool rug, that will be great when the evenings get cooler. I am going to show you a picture of that room and see what you think. Time for another nap so long for now.

Think Mom has lost her mind. Tearing through closets, going through stuff, filling the trash bin and recycling bin full and overflowing. Putting stuff in the garage to sell and cleaning out the storage shed in the back yard. She wants the place cleaned out oof things that haven’t been seen in the 2 years and 5 months we have lived here. Seems there are so many closets and it sure is easy to hide stuff instead of putting it in a permanent place to live. After tomorrow there will be only one holdout. The “basement” store room. Called that because the things in there would be in a basement if we had one. Figure from the amount of things in there it will take days to move and get done. But she is sure determined.

It is good she can walk now and get around without using that walker. It does come in handy to move things that are heavy around so figure she will be using it for some things in there this week.

Wow, I sure love this cool weather to sleep out in at night. Quiet cool and pleasant. Know it won’t last for long so I am relishing it for now. And it gives me the opportunity to pull security for the Spa and Resort. Not that it needs security. But helps me repay for my room and board.

Well not sure what is going on with mom, but she is acting strange. Creating things like never before. Glass, old doilies and now going to work on a tire project. Hope she isn’t going to try working on me. And today the backyard gets revamped. Here are a couple of her projects. Some you might not like, but she seemed to be having fun. Me, I just guard the Spa and Resort. Good enough for me.
