šŸŽ’šŸ¾ BACK-TO-SCHOOL PET TIP: EASE INTO THE NEW ROUTINE!

As the kids head back to school, your pet may notice that the house suddenly feels a lot quieter. Changes in schedules can sometimes lead to stress, boredom, or unwanted behaviors.

Here are a few simple ways to help your furry family member adjust:

🐶 Keep a routine: Try to keep feeding, walks, and bedtime consistent.

🧸 Keep them busy: Puzzle toys, treat toys, and enrichment activities can help fill the quiet hours.

šŸ‘‹ Practice departures: Gradually get your pet comfortable with everyone leaving the house instead of making the transition all at once.

ā¤ļø Make time to reconnect: A walk, play session, or extra cuddles after school can give your pet something positive to look forward to.

āš ļø Watch for changes: Excessive barking, destructive behavior, accidents, or changes in appetite can be signs your pet is having trouble adjusting. If you're concerned, talk with your veterinarian.

šŸ“š Back to school doesn't have to mean back to boredom! A little planning can help make the transition easier for the whole family—two-legged and four-legged.

If you have any questions or concerns about your pets during this transition period, please give us a call at (508) 822-2981 or email us at [email protected].

šŸŽ† The Countdown to Fireworks Has Begun—Is Your Pet Ready?

While we're planning BBQs, parades, and fireworks, many pets are preparing for their least favorite holiday of the year.

šŸ’„ Loud booms
šŸ’„ Flashing lights
šŸ’„ Unexpected noises
šŸ’„ Unexpected guests

For anxious pets, the Fourth of July can feel more like a horror movie than a celebration.

If your pet has needed anxiety medication in the past—or if you've noticed signs like trembling, pacing, hiding, excessive barking, or trying to escape—NOW is the time to contact us.

ā° Don't wait until the beginning of July!
Prescription requests often increase right before the holiday, and last-minute refills may be harder to accommodate.

Here are a few ways to help your pet stay calm:
āœ… Refill anxiety medications early
āœ… Create a quiet, comfortable "safe space"
āœ… Keep pets indoors during fireworks
āœ… Ensure ID tags and microchip information are up to date
āœ… Try calming music or white noise

A little planning now can make a big difference later.

Give us a call today to discuss the best anxiety management plan for your furry family member. Let's help them have a safe, stress-free holiday!

🐱 Is your cat at a healthy weight? You might be surprised how much it actually varies.

There’s no single ā€œperfectā€ number—most domestic cats fall around 8–12 lbs, but factors like breed, gender, and lifestyle can make a big difference. For example, a Maine C**n can be perfectly healthy at 20+ lbs, while a Siamese might only be 5–10 lbs.

āš ļø Why it matters:
Even a few extra pounds can increase the risk of serious health issues like diabetes, arthritis, and more.

šŸ’” A better way to tell than the scale:
Vets often use a Body Condition Score (BCS)—basically checking if your cat has a visible waist, and whether you can feel (but not see) their ribs.

šŸ‘‰ The takeaway:
Your cat’s ideal weight is unique to them. Regular check-ins, proper diet, and daily playtime can make a huge difference in keeping them healthy and happy.

ā¤ļø A healthy cat = a happier, longer life.

🐾 Wondering how much a vet visit really costs? You’re not alone—and the answer might surprise you.

According to this guide, the average vet visit can range widely depending on your pet’s needs. A routine checkup might cost around $80–$120, but once you add vaccines, tests, or medications, the total bill can climb to $200–$300 or more.

And if it’s an emergency? Costs can jump quickly into the hundreds—or even thousands—depending on the situation.

šŸ’” Here’s the reality:
Pet care today is more advanced than ever, which is amazing for our furry family members—but it also means higher costs. Over time, those expenses can really add up.

šŸ‘‰ The takeaway:
Planning ahead (whether through savings or pet insurance) can make all the difference when unexpected vet visits happen.

If you’re a pet parent, it’s worth understanding these costs now—so you can focus on what matters most later: your pet’s healthā¤ļø

Key Points • Among Pumpkin pet parents, the average cost of a routine vet visit for a dog is $229; for cats, the average cost is slightly lower at $197. • Preventative treatments like vaccines, dental care, and parasite prevention do come with up-front costs, but they can save you money over tim...

🌸🐾 Spring cleaning with pets? It’s not as simple as grabbing your usual supplies.

Many common household cleaners contain ingredients like bleach, ammonia, and formaldehyde—which can irritate your pet’s skin, lungs, or even make them sick if ingested.

šŸ’” Pet-friendly cleaning tips to keep in mind:
✨ Skip harsh chemicals and strong fragrances (yes—even some ā€œnaturalā€ ones)
✨ Look for gentle, pet-safe or enzymatic cleaners
✨ Keep pets out of the room while cleaning and until surfaces are dry
✨ Don’t forget their stuff—beds, toys, and bowls need regular cleaning too

🐶🐱 Why it matters:
Pets are constantly in contact with floors, fabrics, and surfaces—and what’s on them can easily end up in their mouths.

šŸ‘‰ The takeaway:
A clean home shouldn’t come at the expense of your pet’s health. A few simple swaps can make your spring refresh safe for everyone in your household.

ā¤ļø Happy cleaning—and even happier pets.
