Stewart is adopted!🎉🎉🎉
Stewart and his seven siblings arrived in NJ in March as nervous, frightened puppies who had missed out on important early socialization. Each one was welcomed into patient and loving foster homes.
Stewart was especially fortunate to have three incredible foster families since then who helped him along the way. Sarah, Nicole, and Tom (and their families). Thanks to their commitment, Stewart blossomed in his foster homes.
At adoption events, however, Stewart would shut down, curling up in the back of his pen and avoiding attention. People were drawn to his handsome looks, but few got to see the wonderful dog hiding beneath his nervous exterior.
That all changed this past Sunday.
With his foster mom staying by his side at the event, Stewart found a little extra courage. A woman and her son stopped by and immediately fell in love with him. They spent time getting to know Stewart and shared that they had been looking for a companion for their female dog. After submitting an application and being approved, they brought their dog for a meet-and-greet, and it was a perfect match!
They looked beyond Stewart's fearful exterior and saw the sweet, loving dog he is.
Congratulations, Stewart! We are so happy for you and grateful to everyone who played a part in your journey. Your happy ending is exactly why foster homes and adoption events matter so much. ❤️
Shy dogs often require a little more time, patience, and understanding, and sometimes a very special adopter willing to look beyond their fears. But as Stewart's story shows, the reward is more than worth it. ❤️
** Stewart has three siblings still available for adoption, Snow, Steve & Sally who are all great dogs! **
