Sweet Gena & Geo Are Still Waiting for Their Forever Families!

Gena & Geo are the last two puppies from the G litter still searching for their happily-ever-after. (Gabi has been adopted by a wonderful family — adoption post coming soon once we get the family photo!)

At about four months old, these gorgeous pups are growing up fast. Gena is the smallest of the litter, while Geo is the biggest, and the only boy.

💕 Gena is being fostered with two awesome SoCo alumni, Josie & Zeus, and a family who adores her more every day. Her foster mom describes her as an amazing, lovable, snuggly girl who sleeps soundly in her crate all night and is doing great with house-training. She recently attended a Junior Police Academy event where she won over about 20 kids, army-crawling back to them every chance she got. She simply loves people!

💕 Geo is a sweet boy being fostered with several other dogs, including adoptable SoCo pup Sally. His foster dad says he would make a wonderful addition to any family. Geo loves other dogs, enjoys meeting new people, and has absolutely no idea that he's not lap-dog sized! His foster dad takes him all over town, so you may spot him out charming everyone he meets, like the photo with fellow SoCo volunteer/foster here recently at one of SoCo's favorite local businesses, Lone Eagle Brewing in Flemington.

Both puppies are social, affectionate, and ready to find families of their own.

Meet the Uvalda 8:
These are the 8 surviving pups that were found discarded in a ditch in Uvalda yesterday.

All of the black/white pups and one of the silver/grey pups are males, three of the silver/grey pups are females.

The heaviest is only 2lbs, the rest range in weight from 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs each and they look to be between 3-4 weeks old.

They have a good appetite but are all underweight. I’ve just completed Day 1 of their first round of de-worming, hopefully they’ll not experience any problems in passing the worms.

I’d like to thank Mr. Cameron Hughes, who found the pups, for immediately reaching out to the authorities, and to Julie Bumbaca of Lucky Dog Rescue who called me seeking help.

And of course, a BIG thank you to each and everyone of you who have donated, shared the post and sent well-wishes for these pups.

Please keep those prayers going up for these pups as their survival is still very questionable. But by the grace of God, each will pull through the nightmare ordeal that they were subjected to.

Update Uvalda Pups: This rescue mission has just about broken me:

A young man was outside working and kept hearing a noise. He traced the noise to a ditch on the property where he found 11 tiny puppies. Two of the pups were deceased, the others were very frail and dehydrated.

No sooner than I saw a Facebook post about the pups, I received a call from Julie Bumbaca ( Lucky Dog Rescue) asking if I could help? Within an hour Julie was pulling into my driveway with the pups. One had passed away en route, another appeared very weak. All of the pups were covered in mud and dirt, reeking of urine.

Immediately we began to bathe the pups, who appear to be approx 4 weeks old. Once clean and dry, they eagerly ate a mix of puppy food soaked and softened with formula and drank water. The weakest of the pups seemed to regain some energy while being bathed and joined his littermates as they devoured the food. The pups are now resting, all nestled together under warm, dry towels.

It’s way too early to tell if they will survive, but we’re going to do our very best to save the remaining eight, which includes 5 males and 3 females.

The lack of any paw prints in the mud rules out the possibility that the pup’s mom was anywhere around; the fresh shoe prints confirm that this is the action of some heartless, pathetic person.

They were left there, in the heat, to simply die. I don’t often pray for vengeance, but in this case, I’m hoping for an abundance to come to whoever is responsible.

Being filled to the max and already struggling financially makes this rescue very difficult. But as is our motto, we will find a way!

Just alerted to this horrible situation.
These newborn pups are now on their way to SoCo Rescue.
They were dumped in a ditch. No paw prints evident to indicate that the mom may be nearby, but the officer on site can clearly see footprints leading away from the area.
Two had passed, another two are clinging to life and may pass before they get here.
Say a prayer please.
And to whoever did this…if I find out who you are, you will suffer a far worse fate. Promise!!!

That's a wrap for the J Litter! 🎉

Sweet Jolie found her forever home today with a family who instantly fell in love with her photo and couldn't wait to meet her. It was love at first sight!

Jolie hit the jackpot with this family. Her mom is a dog groomer, so she'll get to go to work with her every day, her dad was absolutely over the moon excited to meet her, and her human brother had no idea he was about to meet his new best friend. What an amazing surprise for him!

We couldn't be happier for Jolie and her new family. With her adoption, every puppy from the J litter has now found a loving forever home.
