Sorry, but we cannot take your pig.
We cannot take the stray pig you found. We cannot take your pig because you had a baby. We cannot take the pig you bought at an auction. We cannot take your pig that is acting out because you don't provide an adequate environment or attention. We cannot take the pig your neighbor bought and doesn't properly care for. We cannot take the pig posted on a buy-sell group. We cannot take the pig seized in a criminal case.
Pigsburgh Squealers Rescue has taken on over 120 pigs this year, including pigs returned from adopters, pigs on behalf of other organizations, strays, and of course the dozens from the big hoarding case. We have had so many pigs pass away from the neglect they suffered before rescue and from unnecessary pregnancies (40 total, in fact) and that fact has been so so hard on us. We still have 12 more pigs to spay from the case in the coming months.
It's the time of year when the rehome requests ramp up as people realize they don't want to set up proper winter housing for the pet they used to love.
No. We are way beyond full.
