Another four-day stay with my three little Brussels Griffon friends in South Tampa. 🤍

The overall vibe of this visit?

Cuddles.
Belly rubs.
Kisses.
Naps.
More cuddles.
And absolutely no unnecessary productivity.

These three have such a calming little energy about them that after four days together, I’m pretty sure I entered their lifestyle completely.

Something I love about Brussels Griffons is how incredibly people-oriented they are. They’re often described as “Velcro dogs” because they form strong bonds with their people and generally want to be wherever you are.

Preferably touching you.

They’re also incredibly expressive. Those big eyes, tiny beards and almost human-looking faces can communicate an entire opinion without saying a word.

And believe me… there are opinions. 😂

They may be small, but Griffons are intelligent, sensitive and packed with personality. They weren’t designed to admire life from across the room. They want to be part of everything.

Or, in our case, part of four wonderfully relaxing days filled with love, cuddles, belly rubs and kisses.

I think we all needed it. 🤍

Bella & Toto: tiny dogs, very important people. 🤍

I’ve been caring for these two Shih Tzu sweethearts in Parrish for quite a while now, and at this point, I’m pretty sure I work for them.

Bella and Toto are absolute loves, affectionate, adorable, and always happy to have their Lily time.

And the Shih Tzu personality makes me laugh because these little dogs have centuries of experience being spoiled. The breed originated in Tibet and was developed as a companion dog for Chinese royalty. They weren’t bred to hunt, herd cattle, or guard farms.

Their job was essentially:

Be beautiful.
Sit somewhere comfortable.
Receive affection.
Repeat.

Bella and Toto are doing an excellent job honoring their ancestors.

Shih Tzus are known for being affectionate, outgoing companion dogs who love being close to their people. And despite their tiny size, many have enough personality and confidence for a dog approximately six times their size.

Basically, they are little furry CEOs.

Bella and Toto have been such sweet, loving companions, and one of my favorite parts of pet sitting is exactly this — becoming a familiar person in a dog’s life instead of simply being “the sitter.”

They know me. I know them. And yes… I know exactly who is actually in charge of the house.

Spoiler: not me.

I think Olive and Charley may have officially introduced me to the art of doing absolutely nothing… beautifully. 🤍

These two Greyhound rescues were my South Tampa companions, and they were quite possibly two of the calmest dogs I’ve ever cared for.

Most of the day?

Couch.
Nap.
Change positions.
Nap again.
Occasionally look at Lily.
Back to the couch.

And then… FEEDING TIME.

Twice a day, the Greyhound security system suddenly activated.

👀 Did someone say dinner?

Apparently, you can be completely relaxed for 23 hours and 58 minutes a day and still know precisely when food is supposed to appear.

And that relaxed personality is actually very Greyhound. Despite being incredible athletes capable of reaching around 40 mph, Greyhounds are famous for being gentle, sensitive and serious couch potatoes. They tend to spend a lot of their time lounging and sleeping, saving all that athletic ability for when it’s truly necessary.

In Olive and Charley’s case, apparently that emergency was breakfast and dinner.

They were so incredibly gentle, peaceful and easy to be around. There’s something special about seeing rescue dogs settled into a life where they feel safe enough to simply relax.

Soft beds. Full bellies. A peaceful home.

Exactly the kind of retirement every rescue deserves. 🤍

There’s something about a snoring pug that makes it nearly impossible to be productive.

Janis is spending some time at my house, and apparently her agenda is very simple: cuddle, nap, snore, repeat.

And I fully support it.

She is such a loving little baby. She curls up next to me like that is exactly where she belongs, and then the tiny pug snoring begins. I know snoring isn’t technically supposed to be adorable…but Janis has made a very convincing case.

Pugs were actually bred to be companion dogs, treasured for centuries for their affectionate personalities and love of being close to their humans. And Janis clearly takes her heritage very seriously. Personal space? Not really part of the pug philosophy.

They’re also known for being playful, charming, a little mischievous, and exceptionally talented at turning themselves into professional lap warmers.

Some pet-sitting stays are full of adventures.

Others are soft blankets, little paws, a warm body pressed against you, and the sweetest soundtrack of tiny snores.

Three Brussels Griffons. Three completely different personalities. One very relaxing stay.

This was my second time caring for this adorable trio in South Tampa, and I think they officially pulled me into my lazy girl era.

Maybe it was their calm energy. Maybe it was the rainy weather. Or maybe it was simply one of those rare weeks where everyone, humans and dogs included, needed permission to slow down.

We enjoyed cozy naps, quiet companionship, and an unhurried routine. Honestly… it was surprisingly hard to leave.

These are the moments I love most. Building long-term relationships with families, getting to know each pet’s unique personality, and creating a calm, familiar experience every time I return.
