🐾 Florida Doesn't Have an Off-Season for Parasites

Mosquitoes, fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites aren't just a summertime problem in Florida.

That's why year-round prevention matters.

Keeping your pet protected can help prevent:

❤️ Heartworm disease
🦟 Mosquito-borne heartworms
🪲 Fleas & ticks
🪱 Common intestinal parasites

Not sure if your pet is current on prevention? We can help!

Contact River Mill Animal Hospital to check your pet's prevention schedule and find the right protection for them.

Don't wait for parasites to become a problem. Protect them before they do.

A Parked Car Can Become Deadly in Minutes

Even on a warm day, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise to dangerous levels within minutes. Cracking the windows is not enough to keep your pet safe.

Protect your furry family members by:
• Leaving them at home if they can't come inside with you
• Planning pet-friendly stops when traveling
• Always providing fresh water before and after outings

If you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke, seek veterinary care immediately. Quick action can save a life.

River Mill Animal Hospital is here to help keep your pets safe all summer long.

Heat Can Happen in Minutes

Florida summers can be dangerous for our pets. Heat exhaustion and heatstroke can develop quickly, especially during walks, playtime, or time spent outdoors.

Know the warning signs:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting
• Bright red gums

If your pet shows signs of overheating, move them to a cool area, offer cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

A little prevention goes a long way—keep fresh water available, avoid the midday heat, and never leave your pet in a parked car.
