Boomlay Shiba Located in Florida. Sharing the adventures, daily life, and my musings on the Shiba Inu. I focus on temperament, structure, and type – in that order.

Boomlay is a up-and-coming Shiba Inu kennel located in Tampa, Florida, specializing in versatile AKC and NIPPO registered Shiba Inu. I strive to produce mentally sound Shiba with balanced structure and a good work ethic. I not only show my dogs in conformation but I also participate in performance events with my dogs including Barn Hunt, Fast CAT/CAT, AKC’s Trick Dog, AKC’s Canine Good Citizen, Rally as well as training for agility. Our goal is to preserve & promote the Shiba Inu as the breeders in Japan intended the Shiba to be. Our dogs are raised with other animals including other dogs, cats, rabbits & birds (budgies, pigeons, ducks). Socialization and good genetics is key. The dogs travel to wherever dogs are allowed, making them more well rounded and less likely to develop fears or phobias. Our Shiba are health tested before breeding – eyes, hips, & patellas are OFA certified. I’m a member of the Heart Of Dixie Shiba Fanciers, the National Shiba Club of America, Nihonken Hozonkai (NIPPO), and the Florida Cracker Horse Association

Finally got my new Intermediate side door Lilac, intermediate side door purple, & medium double door purple Ruffland kennels! Purple is my favorite color & I adore both Lilac & purple so I figured why not get some of each?
Astrid will be excited that she now gets a travel crate, which she prefer a crate over her Kurgo crash tested harness. Nekora prefers her harness over a crate so I don’t get why Astrid would rather have the crate but that’s ok, I’m here to spend money to make her (& the others) happy 😂

My dogs are great golf ball “hunters” (thieves). Today Wallen was victorious which made Delilah & Astrid sad

It was a long day at the UKC show today. We had to stay until after BIS for the veterans BIS.
Stupidly I managed not to enter Wallen tomorrow & didn’t check my online entry receipt so I could have entered him, so today was his only day to show. He would have gotten his UKC championship tomorrow if he was entered 😂 although I’m super exhausted so maybe it’s good I didn’t enter tomorrow.
Wallen had a lot of fun in the ring - giving judges kisses being the top of his list. The first judge didn’t allow bait so he was extra distracted BUT she gave good butt scratches so he was content. He won a group 2 out of 3 dogs in show one & a group 3 out of 3 show two 😂 which he behaved much better for show 2 which was nice.
Nekora joined us in order to show in veterans. She ended up winning best veteran in show, enjoying the clapping as she pranced around the ring. But don’t tell her that she won because she was the only old lady in the ring 😂 we got compliments on how good she looks for 12.

I’m am proud & excited to announce that I finished my 2nd bred by! (This was a lot quicker than the first & I’m not complaining!) 😂
Wallen won WD & BOS in both the am & pm shows today at West Palm beach. He’s definitely a firecracker in & out of the ring making it hard to contain his excitement when it’s show time. He truly loves to show & once mature mentally & physically he’ll be something to watch. For now though he just entertains judges & onlookers while making me look like I have only slight control of his enthusiasm of the game. But his tail is always wagging & you can tell that he loves what he does

This accomplishment means a lot as I don’t breed often at all & out of my limited litters I kept 2 puppies to show. He finished within a year of getting his first major, his wins handled of course by me.

Thank you Krissy & Jesse for taking him back in the ring for me while I showed Delilah. Thank you Krissy (Coquina Shiba Inu ) for letting me use Angus to make this main character. Thank you Katie L for the photo of Wallen in the ring & Ronnie for taking photos of all the dogs in the ring, I got a good laugh at Wallen being a clown 😂😅 which one day those photos will have their chance to shine.

It’s past 10pm & I gotta get up at 5am for work tomorrow 😂 but I didn’t want to miss out on sharing show updates from this weekend. We drove 4 hours to attend the West Palm Beach show for the first time ever. Saturday was a LONG day, showing at 8am & leaving close to 5. Delilah got BOB both shows on Saturday & Owner Handled BOB at the PM show. She showed beautifully in groups but no dice.
Today she won BOB & BOBOH for the PM show. She has been a real trooper as these were long days & she’s in season, which is not a fun combo for her. But she made me really proud both days
