We’re so happy to announce the expansion of Dolly’s Dream Dog program to HSTB’s Pinellas Campus!🥳

Until last week, Cookie had spent 186 days at the shelter after arriving as a stray, waiting to find a home to call her own. Juicey was surrendered and waited a month for her happy ending. Both were Dolly’s Dream dogs and happened to find a home in the same week!🏠

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay partners with to help save the lives of more square-headed bully breed dogs, who can face stigma simply because of their appearance or the breeds their associated with. 🐶

Dolly’s Dream helps set adopters and their furry family members up for success, sending each dog home with essentials like a bed, training crate, bowls, harness, ID tag, along with 3 in-home training sessions with a certified dog trainer!☺️

We’re so excited for Cookie and Juicey in this next chapter and even more excited to bring the support of Dolly’s Dream to more dogs and families at our Pinellas campus.🐾

❤️ From shelter dog to lifesaver. ❤️

Four years ago, Bellatrix was transferred into HS Pinellas from another shelter, and was adopted weeks later by Don & Kathy.

Today, Belletrix lives in Texas, and her family tells us that she is a Medical Alert Dog with extensive medical-alert and search-and-rescue training. She even knows all her commands in Spanish.

But her greatest accomplishment may be the lives she has helped save. Bellatrix has alerted to heart attacks and seizures on multiple occasions. Kathy shared that her husband may not still be beside her if it weren’t for Bellatrix.🥹

We couldn’t be prouder of this incredible girl! ❤️

An adoption update many of you have been waiting for…

Winterly has been adopted!🥰

Jeff and Aubrey have rescued dogs before and told us they tend to seek out and fall for the ones that are overlooked or have stayed the longest. They had their eye on Winterly and had to come meet her. 🥹

Winterly is a female terrier mix who has been waiting since June. She was a Doggie Day Out participant, a lap dog at critter camp, and even modeled swimwear. 🤭

Jeff and Aubrey tell us that she’s been settling in nicely with her new canine brother and sister. She loves running around the yard and cuddling with her people. Her family is even working with a trainer to help all three dogs continue adjusting and thriving together!

Congratulations!🥳🐾

Not an animal person?! 🚨STOP THE WEDDING. Return the cake. Nvm. Eat the cake still. Cancel the venue. This is blasphemy.

Bianca and Stacey are two of the 20+ Dachshunds transferred to HSTB from Animal Services after they were rescued from a hoarding situation.

We weren't on scene and know very little about what their lives looked like before they came to us. When they arrived, many of the dogs had significant medical needs, including dental disease, demodex, ear infections, and heartworm. Some were more social, while others were understandably frightened of people and needed time to learn that they were safe.

Then came Susan.

Susan is no stranger to opening her heart to dogs who need a little extra care. She told us that she has always found herself drawn to older dogs and dogs with health concerns because she knows they can have a harder time finding forever homes reassuring us that she is in a position to give them the care they deserve.

Earlier this year, her senior HSTB alum sadly passed away due to heart issues, and she decided she was ready to open her home again. She originally came to meet Stacey, but before long, she fell in love with Bianca too. 💞

Bianca is the more outgoing one of the two and would seek out attention, while Stacey preferred to hide underneath things. But when Bianca came into the room, something sweet happened: Stacey seemed to find a little more courage. She began exploring the office, eventually settling underneath Susan's chair while Bianca happily sat in her lap.

Sometimes, having a friend beside you makes it a little easier to be brave. 🥹

Susan understands that these girls will need time to adjust and is ready for whatever challenges may come along the way. And now, Bianca and Dixie get to discover a life where they are safe, loved, and completely spoiled.

After an uncertain beginning, these two girls are finally getting the happy ending they deserve. ❤️🐾 Happy tails to this trio!

We’re so grateful to be part of the Community Harvest again this September! ❤️🍴

Throughout the month, guests dining at participating 1905 Family of Restaurants locations can choose a local nonprofit to support. The restaurants will donate 5% of diners’ checks to the charity they select at no additional cost to guests!

A huge thank-you to the participating restaurants for supporting HSTB and other nonprofits across Florida. Together, we can “Eat Well and Do Good!” 🐾💙

MEOW! Purrhaps you’ve been looking for us?🐅

We recently had two Bengal cats surrendered to our HSTB Tampa campus, and now they’re looking for a new home! Meet Tommy and Jojo!🐾

Bengals aren’t like your average laid-back house cat. They’re known for being independent, intelligent, chatty, energetic and playful, and they need plenty of mental stimulation and enrichment to keep their minds busy and bodies happy!

If you’re considering adding a Bengal to your family, it’s important to understand they’re going to be a little more active and demanding. Come meet Tommy and Jojo to see if they’d be a good match.

How did Sage end up covered in paint? That part of her story remains a mystery, but we’re so glad she found her way to us. 🐾🎨

She was brought to us as a stray, encrusted in paint. This was more than just a bad hair day; the paint irritated her skin, causing her to pick at it. By the time she arrived, we were already seeing signs of an infection starting.

Thankfully, Sage seemed to know she was in good hands. She wanted nothing to do with being in a carrier and actually chewed through it to be right beside us, stealing our attention and soaking every bit of affection she could get.

She was incredibly patient and let us carefully shave away the paint, almost as if she understood we were there to help.🥹

And even with her bad haircut, Sage caught someone’s attention once she made it to the adoption floor. Her affectionate personality was hard to resist. Isabelle fell in love with Sage’s sweet demeanor, especially when Sage made biscuits for her.

Congratulations, Isabelle and Sage!🥰
