Ranger’s Progress šŸ•šŸ¤

This is all still very new to Ranger. He’s starting to understand that people aren’t always a threat and that he doesn’t have to approach every situation defensively. He’s still skeptical, and that’s okay. Building trust takes time, consistency, and the right guidance.

Our job is to help him work through those uncomfortable feelings without letting fear dictate every decision. We’re not here to overwhelm him, but we’re also not going to let avoidance be the only answer.

Strong leadership, clear communication, and consistency are key. We’re helping Ranger learn a different way to respond, one experience at a time.

Follow Prestige K9 Training to watch Ranger’s progress as we work toward building a more confident, comfortable dog. šŸ’ŖšŸ¾

Ranger is learning to navigate uncomfortable situations as unfamiliar people approach and handle his leash.

Part of his recovery is experiencing manageable stress in a controlled environment, allowing him to learn how to cope without becoming overwhelmed. We’re building confidence, trust, and healthier responses one step at a time.

Ranger is actually a really cool, sweet dog. We just have to help him work through his uncertainty and learn that unfamiliar people aren’t always a threat.

Real problems. Real solutions. One dog at a time. 🐾

Today for National Fetch Day, we wanted to highlight ball-safety. One of the biggest risks during play is using a ball that's too small for your dog, which poses a serious choking hazard! Check out the infographic to help you determine the correct ball size for your dog and keep fetch safe!

Ranger just being a dog. 🐾

I’m not asking him to do anything other than take in his environment and be himself. Sometimes the best thing we can do is step back, observe, and let the dog show us who they are naturally.

This allows us to see what Ranger is comfortable with, what he’s willing to engage with, and what he chooses to avoid without adding unnecessary pressure or influence.

Before we can change behavior, we have to understand it. We’re taking our time, gathering information, and letting Ranger show us what we need to know.

Ranger’s First Official Introduction āœˆļø

Ranger came to us with some reactivity issues and a bite history involving one person. He’ll be staying with us for a while as we work to better understand his behavior and identify what’s driving these responses.

Our first priority is to observe, understand, and identify the patterns behind his behavior. From there, we can begin changing those patterns, building new associations, and teaching Ranger the behaviors we want to see.

Behavior modification isn’t about simply stopping a behavior. It’s about understanding why it happens, addressing the underlying issues, and giving the dog a better way to respond.

Follow along as we work through Ranger’s recovery process, one step at a time. Real problems. Real solutions.

Watch Sadie work through her emotions, she nearly drags the table trying to reach me! šŸ˜‚

Sometimes, the best training is giving a dog space to settle and choose a better behavior.

Create the opportunity, wait for the right choice, then mark and reward it. The goal isn’t blind compliance, it’s teaching dogs to think, regulate their impulses, and make better decisions.

Patience, timing, and consistency. Let them learn. 🐾
