We're building more than exam rooms and surgical suites.

Our new hospital will also include a community room - a dedicated space for gathering, learning and connecting.

Dr. Drygas gives us a look at where it will be and what's planned for the space.

Dr. Kevin Drygas is presenting his clinical research at the ACVS Surgery Summit on Postoperative Precision Radionuclide Brachytherapy for Incomplete Tumor Resection, which evaluated the safety, feasibility and short-term clinical outcomes of IsoPet® therapy in 20 pet patients who had undergone surgery for soft tissue tumors. The study evaluated IsoPet® treatments in 17 canines and 3 felines, with histologically confirmed incomplete surgical margins (dirty margins) following tumor resection.

"Capital Veterinary Specialists (CVS) has successfully treated over 80 patients, with now up to one year of follow-up in some cases. In my experience, IsoPet does not have a high risk of local tissue damage. We have seen a small number of local reactions all treated with minimal intervention or supportive care. We offer it as an adjuvant therapy following surgery; it provides an option for owners who cannot pursue traditional radiation therapy for these tumor types."
— Dr. Drygas, DVM, DACVS, & Owner of CVS

Dr. Drygas will be presenting his research at the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Conference (ACVS) on October 10th in Charlotte, North Carolina.

What does an operating room look like before it becomes an operating room?

Dr. Drygas takes us inside the future surgical space at our new hospital and explains some of the thinking going into its design.

Right now it's still a construction site.

Before long, this space will be built around the doctors, medical teams and patients who will use it every day.

Better care for pets is under construction.

Introducing our Specialists Assistant Apprenticeship Program!

Our Specialist Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a rigorous, one-year advanced training program recognized by the State of Florida. Designed to prepare our veterinary assistants / technicians for the demands of specialty practice, the program provides comprehensive instruction in anatomy, diagnostic imaging, pharmacology, surgery, anesthesia, critical care, internal medicine, and other essential areas of advanced veterinary patient care.

Participants attend a monthly lecture series and complete testing after each chapter to reinforce learning and measure progress. This structured approach helps team members expand their knowledge, build confidence, and create meaningful opportunities for a more skilled and consistent support team, improves efficiency and patient care, strengthens employee engagement and retention, and creates a reliable pipeline of well-prepared specialty veterinary assistants / technicians.

We currently have five of our staff actively enrolled in the program. Billy – Surgical Supply, Keri – Surgery, Nick- Urgent Care, Pamela – Internal Medicine and Rhonda – Anesthesia.
