This Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating dedicated professionals who make a profound impact on our community’s pets.

From surgical nursing and anesthesia to diagnostics, forensics and patient care, the vet techs and vet assistants at Tallahassee Animal Services keep tails wagging and purrs going. They're paws-itively amazing, sharing their skill and heart with every animal in their care! 🐾

Sweet, fun-loving Tobias has been waiting for his forever home for over a year.

After arriving as a stray last October, Tobias quickly showed himself to be a goofy and affectionate boy who loves pets, playtime, and people!

Tobias is not in foster care, but thanks to our foster team, he has had the chance to go on adventures and relax outside of the shelter while on field trips and sleepovers! While he may not live in a foster home full-time, these short-term outings give him a chance to show off his goofy personality, decompress, and explore new places before returning to his kennel.

✅ Polite in the house and in the car
🍬 Treat-motivated
⭐ Energetic, but settles after a walk or playtime
❤️ Almost done with heartworm treatment!

Tobias spent his last 376 days at the shelter. He is so, so ready to spend his next year (and every year after) having the time of his life in his forever home.

Find Your ‘Pup’kin Match at the Tallahassee Animal Services Patch!

Pumpkins aren’t the only thing worth picking this fall! Tallahassee Animal Services invites you to find your match during the Pick a ‘Pup’kin adoption event on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Animal Service Center will be open for walk-ins from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 24, and adoption fees will be waived for all pets during the event. Adoptable pets can also be viewed via the online kennel, which is updated hourly with new arrivals.

As a special treat at the event, dog adopters will receive a free pumpkin while supplies last, and all adopters will be entered into a raffle for a gift basket filled with goodies for their new pet.

This adoption event is supported by the Animal Shelter Foundation, a volunteer organization that provides essential resources to Tallahassee Animal Services and the community to help homeless animals find loving forever homes.

Want to help us add some festive fun for our shelter dogs? This fall, we're asking for donations of canned pumpkin purée! 🎃🍂

Our shelter pups will enjoy this yummy (and nutritious) treat in their daily enrichment. Please make sure to donate 100% pumpkin purée, and not pumpkin pie mix — we don't want to give anyone an upset tummy or a sweet tooth!

Our Advisory Board members serve to:
➡️ Assist in the development of the Animal Services mission and policies
➡️ Review and recommend long-range planning and budgeting for Animal Services
➡️ Provide research, guidance, and advice, sponsor reports, and contribute information relevant to Animal Services program development, policies, and procedures
➡️ Serve as liaisons to the community, increase support and awareness of Animal Services, and assist in the resolution of citizen concerns, issues, and grievances
