We specialize in retriever breeds, catering to hunting enthusiasts that enjoy a well trained hunting companion to retrieve your birds. Our programs include strong basic obedience training, puppy head start training, solid gun dog training, and for those interested, we also compete in the

AKC Hunt Test programs. As an AKC Master HT Judge, I remain active in both the competition and judging, and have an in depth knowledge of what it takes to make your hunting companion a competitor! For those interested, I always welcome you to come check out our first class training facility first. Great weekend at the Port Arthur Hunt Test!
Jake From State Farm picked up a Master Pass which was his 5th, earning him his MH title!!! This was Handler Christine Priday’s first master pass as a handler, so big congratulations to the two of them for getting it done!
Young Mr. Queso attended his first ever hunt test, and picked up his 1st Senior Pass.
Friend and training buddy Keith Westlake handled his dog Lidy to her 1st Master Pass, she’s not even two yet, so I’m pretty sure they’re addicted to the game!!!

Employment Opportunity open (Nov. 13, 2025). DawgOnIt Retrievers is looking for an additional assistant trainer/kennel hand. We specialize in high end gun dogs (retrievers) and AKC hunting tests for retrievers. Experience is a definite plus but not necessary. Must be very dependable and responsible! Must be willing to work hard and learn, work odd hours and many weekends, and love dogs! Job description includes training young dogs (Obedience, Force fetch, and collar conditioning), assisting with the advanced dogs, kennel maintenance, property care, and bird throwing. I'm located between Gregory and Bayside, a few miles off Hwy 136. Hourly pay that will be contract labor to begin with, OT will apply when applicable, and can vary with true experience.
