🐾 A Message to Our Valued Clients

After nearly six decades of caring for the pets and families of our community, the time has come for Dr. Ross and Joey Ross to retire.

It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce that Taft Veterinary Hospital will be closing its doors permanently on September 30, 2026.

Since Dr. Ross opened the doors of Taft Veterinary Hospital in 1967, he and Joey have devoted an incredible portion of their lives to this hospital, the animals in their care, and the people of this community. For nearly 60 years, they have poured their hearts into building a place where families could bring their beloved pets and know they were in caring hands.

Together they have given so much of themselves to Taft Veterinary Hospital and to this community. They have cared for generations of pets, shared in countless happy moments, helped families through difficult goodbyes, and created a place that became part of the fabric of this community.

Throughout the years, Dr. Ross has continued to show up for his patients and his community with the same love and dedication that have defined Taft Veterinary Hospital from the very beginning. Now, after nearly six decades of giving so much of himself to this community, it is finally time for him and Joey to begin a new chapter and enjoy the retirement they have so richly earned. ❤️

We want to give our clients as much time as possible to prepare for our closing. If you need prescription refills, medical records, vaccination records, or other paperwork for your pets, please contact us as soon as possible and before September 30.

We are deeply thankful for every family who has trusted us with the care of their beloved pets throughout the years. It has been an honor to be part of so many of your lives—and to care for generations of your four-legged family members.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for allowing us to serve this community for all these years.

With gratitude,
Dr. Ross, Joey Ross & the Taft Veterinary Hospital family

🔥 Paws Off the Pavement! 🐾☀️

It’s heating up out there, and while your pup may be ready for a walk, the pavement might say otherwise!
If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. 🖐️➡️🐾

Here’s the rule:
☀️ Walk early morning or late evening
🌳 Stick to grass or shaded paths
💧 Bring water for both of you
🐶 Watch for signs of overheating—excessive panting, drooling, or slowing down

Let’s keep those paws safe and tails wagging all summer long! 💛

It's warming up outside and you know what that means? Rattlesnakes….and while we DO have Antivenin here, Antivenin is very expensive. It also has no guarantee it will work and must be given almost immediately to have a successful outcome. We normally follow up with fluids, anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics. The treatment for a rattlesnake bites is around $1500 depending on your animals size and cannot be made in payments. That's why we offer a Rattlesnake vaccine. It is a two series vaccine, and costs $40 each. This vaccination offers protection if a bite were to occur. It is available for both cats and dogs.

What is the difference between the two? The vaccine stimulates a dog/cat to create his own antibodies to rattlesnake venom that will protect him from bites that happen in the future. Antivenin is used to neutralize the snakes venom.

We recommend even if your animal is bit and protected by the vaccination to bring your animal in to get antibiotics and fluid therapy. From our experience, with the vaccination, you don't need the anitvenin but it is always safer to have your animal seen by your vet after any snake bite.

It is always best to be prepared, especially when it comes to your furry friends. Give us a call for more information or to schedule and appointment:)
