Northwest Spay & Neuter Center is a non-profit organization providing spay/neuter, vaccines and microchipping for cats and dogs. The center is open to anyone who wants to help decrease animal overpopulation in Washington State. The expert staff provides the highest level of personalized care for each animal, including feral/free roaming cats, and performs an average of 60 surgeries a day. Spay and

neuter of the pets of low income families and free-roaming/feral cats results in fewer animals being born and fewer animals entering local animal shelters. The end result is fewer animals losing their lives due to homelessness. From its founding in late 2001 through 2007, Peninsula Spay/Neuter Project facilitated over 10,000 spays and neuters of pet cats and dogs, as well as feral and free-roaming cats. This was done with a volunteer staff. PSNP was the first organization in the Puget Sound region to focus on pit bull overpopulation. Over 300 dogs were sterilized at no cost to their owners in 2006 and 2007. PSNP was the first organization in Pierce County to focus on the overpopulation of feral and free-roaming cats. Over 5,200 cats were sterilized via trap/neuter/return between 2001–2007. On March 3, 2008, PSNP opened the first low cost, high volume, high quality spay/neuter clinic in the Puget Sound region. PSNP officially changed its name to Coalition: HUMAnE to better support its goals, mission and vision. In 2013, Coalition: HUMAnE became Northwest Spay & Neuter Center and moved into a beautiful new clinic on Pacific Avenue, three times larger than the previous rented facility. In April of 2014, NWSNC launched its animal shuttle to make affordable spay and neuter services accessible to animal lovers across western Washington.

We are in the THICK of kitten season, and we urgently need kitten foster homes. 🐱💙

Through our Paws to Placement program, kittens go from foster homes to PetSmart and then, hopefully, straight into forever homes. Along the way, they are spayed or neutered, fully vetted, and receive any medical care they need.

Fostering costs you nothing, but it can mean everything to a kitten who needs a safe place to grow.

Want to help save some kittens? Email Jennifer at [email protected] with the subject line “Foster.” 🐾

Just a friendly heads-up for pet owners around JBLM! 🐾 With daytime and nighttime training happening through Aug. 28, you may hear some loud booms in the area. Please keep your pets safe, secure and extra comfortable if those noises tend to scare them. 💙

This is what accessible pet care looks like. 💙🐾

This week, through our Pets for Life program with Humane World, we partnered with the Muckleshoot Housing Authority for a vaccine clinic and saw 46 pets. Many had never received a vaccine before, and many were also scheduled for their spay or neuter. We will now be doing this quarterly at this location.

We are proud, grateful, and fired up, because caring for your four-legged(or however many legs) family member should never feel out of reach. This is only the beginning. We have MANY more spay and neuters we want to do, and we have PLENTY of vaccines to give. Let's GO🐾

We spay and neuter a LOT of kittens. Honestly, some days it feels like that’s all we do(weird, right?). 😂🐱

For their health and safety, we do not spay and neuter our kittens until they're around 8 weeks and 2 pounds. And because preventing more unwanted litters is a huge part of what we do, we’re not going to “just adopt them out” before they’re ready.

So yes, sometimes you might see ZERO kittens available while we still have plenty behind the scenes. Some are tiny neonates growing up in foster, while others need a little extra time and socialization with our experienced fosters and staff.

But RIGHT NOW? We have a LOT of kittens ready for homes. Different colors, different personalities, plenty of tiny chaos. 💙

Come meet them at Auburn Valley Humane Society or PetSmart in Federal Way! 🐾

🐾💙 Thank you!

When it rains, it pours, and right now we’re feeling it. 💙 Between medical cases, long-term shelter pets needing extra support, and lots of kittens, our supplies are going fast.

If you can’t foster or adopt right now, donating food or litter is another huge way to help. Our biggest needs are:

• Purina Kitten Chow, yellow bag
• Purina ONE dry kitten food
• Kitten wet food: Fancy Feast, Hill’s or Pro Plan
• Easy Cheese Cheddar for medications and Fear Free exams
• Tidy Cats non-clumping litter, red/yellow bag
