Big news — our Cardiology team is growing!

South Sound Veterinary Imaging is so excited to welcome Dr. Renee Girens!

With Dr. Girens joining Dr. Katie Nadolny, SSVI will now have two board-certified veterinary cardiologists providing care through outpatient cardiology appointments, mobile cardiology, and telespecialty services.

Dr. Girens comes to us after practicing at a large local referral center, and we are thrilled that she’ll be continuing to serve pets, families, and veterinary teams in our community through SSVI.

Outside of cardiology, Dr. Girens loves exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Jeremy, and their dogs, Benny and Baxter.

More cardiology availability is coming at the end of July. We are thrilled to have Dr. Girens on the team!

We recently saw the cutest, sweetest little Pomeranian, Phoebe — and she completely stole our hearts. 💕

Before her visit, she was having episodes of collapse, was lethargic and just not acting like herself. After her evaluation and starting treatment, her family says she’s feeling great — playing with her toys and acting like a puppy again. There’s nothing better than hearing that a patient has their spark back.

Phoebe was diagnosed with chronic degenerative valve disease (MMVD) and pulmonary hypertension. The good news? Both can often be managed successfully with the right medications and close monitoring — and she’s already showing us a beautiful response.

Huge shoutout to Finn Hill Animal Hospital for catching her heart disease early and getting her to a specialist quickly. We love partnering with our incredible primary care colleagues to provide seamless, collaborative care.

Keep playing, sweet Phoebe. 🐾💗

At South Sound Veterinary Imaging, our goal is simple: to help pets feel better and enjoy meaningful time with the people who love them.

Annabelle is the sweetest 13-year-old Yorkie mix who has been under the care of our cardiologist, Dr. Nadolny, for chronic degenerative valve disease and pulmonary hypertension. With thoughtful medication adjustments and close monitoring, her care is focused on comfort, stability, and quality of life.

Her mom recently shared this update with us:

“Just wanted to pass along an update on Sweet Angel Baby Belle — She’s back to being a spitfire. Belle is doing pretty well for now, and we are so grateful to her and you and all of your team’s efforts to allow us this extra quality time with our tiny best friend.”

Moments like this are why we do what we do — helping families gain more good days, more comfort, and more time together. 💙
