What a difference 1 day makes!

Part of impulse control is having a dog learn to contain themselves while being pet. Mickey lives with two young toddlers, and between them and a loving momma, hes sure to get pet a LOT.

Unfortunately for dogs like Mickey, touch can be a direct fuel line to arousal, which leads to poor behaviors. So hes learning how to navigate certain situations at a less energized state of mind. Later he will learn how to handle himself and listen when he is excited.. but one step at a time.

Today Mickey also learned the first part of "place". That video will be posted as we progress as well.

PLAY TIME!

Mickey is enjoying free-roaming play time with the use of (our favorite tool) the long line.

The long line gives dogs such an enriching, freeing experience that does so much more for their mental, emotional and psychological health than youd ever think.

Getting a dog to feel better, learn self soothing skills and being truly fulfilled is is usually the first step before giving commands and rules. And we are well on our way!

Hes going to make for an excellent transformation in our Board & Train program. I cant wait to share his progress.

Hes here because, well, we are his last resort. His unruly and belligerent behavior has his owners just at their wits end. Plus, with having 2 toddlers in the house, its imperative he learns to mind himself around people, to conduct himself accordingly...even when hes excited, and we gotta stop his resource guarding.

Let the training begin!

There are always fun ways to feed your dog healthy and holistic treats!

Although some of you may balk at the idea of rabbit ears (esp with the hair on it still) but there are plenty of benefits to them (along with the other ingredients in these snacks!)

The fur-on rabbit ears provides protein and connective tissue, and the fur is good source of fiber.

The green lipped mussels 🦪 provide omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins and minerals and are great for supporting joint health and mobility.

The freeze dried pumpkin 🎃 is also another great source of dietary fiber that helps digestion and has beta-carotene and other nutrients

The freeze dried purple sweet potato 🍠 provides virtually the same benefits as the pumpkin...theyre just fun to add in
