Good morning from Southern Utah!

A Neerings Family Farm is back in the Swains Creek and Duck Creek area for a quick weekend turn and burn trip, and we brought the honey with us!

Weā€™ll be around Swains Creek and Duck Creek this weekend and have honey available with us for anyone who needs a refill. If youā€™d like some, just send us a message and we can arrange a pickup. For those who have already placed orders, weā€™ll be in contact to arrange pickup.

Weā€™ll also be making our way home after the weekend and are happy to make stops and deliveries along the way. If youā€™re somewhere along our route and would like to stock up on fresh, raw local honey, message us and weā€™ll see what we can work out!

And donā€™t forget our honey sticks! All profits from our honey stick sales go directly toward our goal of providing a dinner for parents at Primary Childrenā€™s who are spending time in the NICU.

One year ago, we lost the heart of our farm.

Miss Sha-neigh-neigh was the very first one here. We built this place for her and around her, and so much of what we are today started with her.

This year has been hard, and there isnā€™t a day we donā€™t wish she was still here to see everything growing into what we promised it would be.

Narcolepsy in horses is no joke, and fighting that battle with you changed us and made us stronger. We will forever be thankful for everything you taught us about patience, resilience, and love.

Thank you for being our beginning, Neigh. Keep an eye on us. Weā€™re still building it, just like we promised.

The profits from our honey sticks will be set aside and saved for Neerings Family Farm to purchase food and host a special dinner for NICU parents at Primary Childrenā€™s.

We know that a meal canā€™t make the NICU journey easier, but we hope it can offer a small moment of comfort to parents who are spending some of the hardest days of their lives beside their little ones.

The horses canā€™t help themselvesā€¦ they HAVE to get a taste right off the truck!

The second that hay hits the field, these two are right there inspecting the delivery. Apparently, waiting until it makes it to the feeder is simply not an option.

But all jokes aside, high-quality forage is one of the most important parts of a horseā€™s diet. Horses are designed to eat forage for a large portion of their day. Their digestive systems are built around a steady intake of fibrous feed, not a couple of large meals with long periods of time in between.

Thatā€™s why we like keeping good-quality hay available to our horses 24/7.

Free-choice forage allows them to naturally consume smaller amounts throughout the day and night while helping provide the calories they need just to maintain their baseline body condition and normal daily functions. It also keeps their digestive system working the way it was designed to, supports healthy gut motility, and gives them something appropriate to spend their time doing.

For our horses good forage is the foundation; And apparently, quality control starts before the truck even leaves the driveway.

What would you do with over a gallon of milk a day?

This is just what we brought in from our morning milking. Our evening milking will bring in about the same amount, which means our two milk girls are currently giving us around a gallon and a half of fresh milk every single day.

And thatā€™s a LOT of milk for one family to keep up with!

But thatā€™s also what makes fresh goat milk so exciting. It doesnā€™t have to just be a glass of milk.

That fresh milk can become:

Heavy cream
Sour cream
Yogurt
Soft cheeses like chevre, feta, mozzarella and cream cheese
Butter
And, of course, plenty of fresh drinking milk.

We raise Standard LaManchas, and our girls are doing an amazing job this year on their second freshening. Weā€™re really starting to see just how much these girls are capable of producing!

Which brings us back to the questionā€¦
