Please come along to Mark Watson Park this Saturday 8/29 from 10-12 to see a whole bunch of cool bikes and grab a hotdog from Dogs on Wheels. You can pay to join the ride (car or motorcycle, all proceeds go to ARF) that leaves at 12, but to come and see the bikes and meet everyone before the ride sets off is completely free.

The forecast is great and we'll be right next to the playground and skate park, so bring the kids along for a fun couple of hours and some great photo opportunities ❤️🐶🏍️🌭

It's International Dog Day. And absolutely nothing seems more appropriate than sharing a photo of Dolly with Billy the Kid, her goddog. Life is short and precious. It's even shorter for dogs and they make it even more precious. So today of all days, give them the extra hug, feed the extra treat, throw the tennis ball one more time, let them sniff one more blade of grass, give one more belly rub. And give thanks that we were lucky enough to be on the planet at the same time as someone as fabulous as Dolly 💗💜🐶💗💜🐶

Philip has wisdom, he has a gentle soul, and he’s left the puppy antics and drama behind. A little late to the party with the post, but we're delighted to have had our license once again renewed through July 2027.

We have many pages of standards in safety, cleanliness, building and facilities maintenance, vaccination requirements, and record keeping to adhere to, and are randomly inspected throughout the year. We also choose to insure ourselves above and beyond the minimum to provide the best possible protections for you, your dogs, and our business.

Don't forget, even if you take your dog to someone else's HOME for daycare or boarding in NC, they MUST by law be licensed and meet the same standards and requirements that we do. If in doubt, ask to see their license or ask for their license number and check it online. All daycare and boarding provision outside of your home MUST BE LICENSED. Peace of mind is everything, and that's what licensing is for.

In that capacity, we are delighted to share this wonderful new program, launching today thanks to the incredible generosity of Vernon and Diana Harris. This program is specifically designed to assist Jackson County residents in need at one of the most difficult times pet owners can face, and is unique to the area.

Beginning July 1, 2026, ARF is proud to launch the Vernon & Diana Harris Peaceful Passage Program, the first formal program in Jackson County dedicated to helping families with the cost of end-of-life care for their dogs.

Saying goodbye to a beloved companion is never easy, and financial hardship should never make that moment even more difficult. The Vernon & Diana Harris Peaceful Passage Program provides financial assistance to qualifying Jackson County residents, helping ensure that every dog can receive a peaceful, compassionate goodbye. The program honors Vernon and Diana Harris, whose compassion for both people and animals continues to make a lasting difference in our community. Their legacy will help ensure that more families can provide their dogs with the dignity and comfort they deserve at the end of life.
