PET OF THE WEEK

Mickie
4 years old, female mixed-breed

Mickie is a sweet, 4-year-old, approximately 35-pound mixed-breed girl who loves the company of people. She would also likely do best with a similarly sized, dog-savvy canine companion, and MHS can help determine whether your current dog would be a good match.

Mickie has learned to wear a leash and harness with pride, enjoying many walks with staff and volunteers. She welcomes and even leans into affection, especially chin and neck scratches, and it has been wonderful to watch her confidence grow.

As Mickie continues to settle in, her social personality is really beginning to shine. She definitely prefers the company of people, and will do best in a home that can minimize time she spends alone. She'd likely benefit from dog sitters, doggie daycare, and taking field trips with you!

If you are looking for a new companion to share your life with, then Mickie is your girl! Come visit her during our open hours, Thursday-Sunday from 11-3. October 5, 2026

Happy Tails: Benny (Formerly BJ) 🐾

BJ is adjusting wonderfully to his forever home and has completely settled into his new routine! He has a new name now, Benny, and he’s loving every minute of his new life. 🐾💙

Benny has been enjoying exploring the yard, going on hikes, and even visiting his family’s blueberry patch, where he quickly took on the very important role of landscaping supervisor. 🫐🌿

He’s also been getting along great with his new canine buddy! The two have been having lots of fun playing in the yard and going on walks together. 🐶🐾

It sounds like Benny is settling right in and enjoying all the adventures, love, and companionship his forever home has to offer!

We are so happy for you Benny! ❤️🧡🩵

🚨 Foster needed! 🚨

📍 Must live in New Hampshire and within 30 minutes of MHS in Swanzey
🗓 Foster needed for approximately two months

We’re looking for a foster home for an active 3-year-old Husky. He’d be a great companion for someone who loves spending time outside and can take him on long walks or hikes. 🐾

He’s been friendly with our staff and volunteers, has done well with other dogs at MHS, and loves going on walks with other pups! Like a typical husky, he can be vocal, so an apartment may not be the best fit.

🐶 Dog-friendly and social.
👧🐱 We have no history with children or cats. A home with older, respectful children may be best, and we’d arrange introductions to help determine the right fit.
🦮 Must be on leash with a person whenever he’s outdoors.

Could you give this boy a place to call home for the next couple of months? If you have questions, email [email protected].

Ready to foster? Fill out our application here:

If this dog doesn’t sound like the right fit for your home but you’re still interested in fostering dogs for MHS, please fill out the application linked above or email us. We’d love to hear from you! ❤️🧡🩵

PET OF THE WEEK

Tipsy Daisy
3 year old female, black and white domestic medium hair

Tipsy Daisy is a truly special girl who is ready to leave her mama days behind and find a home of her own! After raising six kittens, this sweet and loving lady is more than ready to be spoiled. Daisy is almost completely blind, but don’t let that fool you—she is an incredibly adaptable girl who navigates her world with confidence. She absolutely loves attention, pets, and being doted on by her people.

Daisy would thrive in a calm, predictable home where her furniture and belongings stay in familiar places. She may do well with other cats or a cat-savvy dog with slow, thoughtful introductions. With her sweet personality and amazing ability to adapt, Daisy is sure to bring plenty of love and joy to the lucky person who gives her a home! If you’d like to come meet her, please stop by during our open hours, Thursday-Sunday from 11-3. September 28, 2026

Happy Tails: Chowder (formerly Neemias) 🐾

Neemias is officially Chowder now, and he has settled right into his new home. He spends his days playing with his 4-year-old “sister,” Tira, and exploring everything around him. 🐱

Chowder recently had his first vet appointment, where he received his booster shots and got a clean bill of health. He’s also gained a healthy amount of weight, which is wonderful to see! 🩺

We are so happy that Chowder has found such a wonderful home, filled with playtime, adventure, and lots of love. ❤️🧡🩵
