Thanks to Qimmiq Kennels for this great infographic of the signs of kennel cough. We are monitoring all our Daycare and Boarding guests and will reach out to pet parents if we see any of the signs.
🐾Kennel Cough (Dog flu/cold) Notice
Well folks, it’s that time of year again!🍂🤧 A few cases of kennel cough have been reported to us and we want to keep our Qimmiq family informed.
We require all dogs who come to Qimmiq to be vaccinated, however, even if your dog has been vaccinated for kennel cough, it is possible for them to catch it, spread it to others and show symptoms. Though the resulting illness is usually milder and is easier to recover quickly from!
Kennel cough can be spread anywhere that dogs gather and is introduced into a facility, not created by the facility itself.
Some dogs can carry these germs silently without ever showing symptoms which can make detection difficult.
Please help us prevent this spreading further by monitoring your pup for symptoms such as a cough, gagging, runny nose or loss of appetite. If you notice any of these symptoms, we ask that you keep your furry friend home for two weeks until they’re feeling better.
In the meantime, we are working hard to disinfect all yards, water buckets and kennels frequently and monitoring our daycare pups and boarders for any symptoms. If we notice a dog has symptoms, all owners of pups who were in the same yard will be contacted and the affected dog will be sent home.
Thank you for helping us protect the wonderful dogs in our care! 💙
