🚨 Rare Group Class Announcement 🚨

We rarely offer group classes, but due to demand, we’re opening a limited 4-week group training course at our Swanzey location.

Why so limited?

Because we believe in maintaining the same high standards and individual attention we’re known for. That’s why this class is being capped at ONLY 4 dogs. Once those spots are filled, registration will close. This course is typically $1500 dollars.

🐾 4-Week Course
🐾 Held Every Other Saturday
🐾 Swanzey Location Only
🐾 $500 Per Dog
🐾 Limited to 3 Participants

This course is perfect for owners looking to improve obedience, engagement, leash manners, and overall communication with their dog while working around other dogs and distractions.

We don’t pack classes full of dogs just to maximize numbers. We keep them small so every team gets the attention they deserve.

📩 Message us today to reserve one of the three available spots before they’re gone.

When people think about dog training, they often picture large breeds like German Shepherds, Malinois, or Labs.

But the truth is, training isn't about the size of the dog.

It's about building communication, structure, and confidence.

Whether your dog weighs 10 pounds or 100 pounds, they still need clear expectations and guidance to be successful.

Small dogs are often given a pass on behaviors that wouldn't be acceptable from a larger dog—pulling on leash, barking, jumping, ignoring commands, or reacting to people and other dogs.

We believe every dog deserves the opportunity to learn.

Today's little training partner was proof that obedience, engagement, and good manners aren't just for the big dogs.

A well-trained dog is a pleasure to live with regardless of breed, age, or size.

Big dogs. Small dogs. Young dogs. Older dogs.

We're here to help them all become the best versions of themselves.

🚗 Why We Recommend Crating Dogs While Traveling

One of the most overlooked parts of dog ownership is how dogs are transported in vehicles.

A loose dog in a vehicle isn’t just a distraction—it’s a safety hazard.

In the event of an accident, an unrestrained dog can:
❌ Be thrown through the vehicle
❌ Be ejected from the vehicle
❌ Injure passengers
❌ Escape after a crash and run into traffic
❌ Suffer serious or fatal injuries

A properly secured crate acts like a seatbelt for your dog, keeping them safe and secure during travel.

At Green Mountain K9, we strongly recommend Gunner Kennels for clients who spend a lot of time traveling with their dogs. They are among the toughest and most crash-tested kennels available and are designed specifically with canine safety in mind.

Whether you’re driving across town, heading to training, going hunting, or taking a road trip, your dog’s safety should be a priority every time they get in the vehicle.

A few minutes securing your dog could make all the difference when the unexpected happens.

🐾 Train hard. Travel smart. Stay safe.

Why Public Walks Are So Effective for Leash Reactive Dogs

One of the biggest mistakes owners make is trying to fix leash reactivity in their living room, backyard, or a quiet training building.

The problem? The dog isn’t reacting there.

Public walks give us access to the real-world distractions that trigger the behavior in the first place:
🐕 Other dogs
🚶 People
🚲 Bikes
🚗 Traffic
🐿 Wildlife
📢 Noise and movement

A leash reactive dog doesn’t need more obedience in a controlled environment. They need to learn how to make good decisions when the world gets exciting.

During public walks, we can:
✔ Teach engagement around distractions
✔ Build handler focus in real situations
✔ Correct unwanted reactions at the moment they occur
✔ Reward calm behavior when it matters most
✔ Gradually increase difficulty as the dog improves

The goal isn’t to avoid distractions forever.

The goal is to create a dog that can walk through the world calmly and confidently without losing its mind every time it sees another dog.

If your dog is perfect at home but turns into a completely different animal on walks, you’re not alone. That’s exactly why we spend so much time training in public.

The real world is the classroom.

No E collars in busy park!

06/01/2026

Today's lesson focused on one of the most important foundations of off-leash training: e-collar conditioning.

Before an e-collar is ever used for accountability, the dog must first understand what the stimulation means.

The goal isn't to correct the dog.

The goal is to teach the dog that low-level stimulation is simply information — a cue that says, "I need to do something."

Through proper conditioning, the dog learns how to respond to that pressure by performing a known behavior and turning the stimulation off. Over time, this creates clearer communication, better engagement, and more reliability in distracting environments.

This is how we build true off-leash control.

Not through fear.
Not through guessing.

Through consistent communication and teaching the dog exactly how to succeed.

A reliable off-leash dog is a dog that understands expectations no matter where they are or what distractions are present. That's the standard we strive for in training.

A lot of dog owners think training is about teaching a dog what to do.

In reality, a huge part of training is teaching a dog what not to do.

Not every person needs to be greeted.

Not every dog needs to be investigated.

Not every squirrel, smell, sound, or distraction requires a reaction.

One of the most valuable skills a dog can learn is neutrality.

The ability to exist in the world calmly, confidently, and under control.

That's where obedience becomes more than just commands. It becomes a lifestyle that creates freedom for both the dog and the owner.

A dog that can remain calm around distractions is a dog you can take more places, trust more often, and enjoy spending time with.
