Our Honey is officially ready. 🍯🐝

💛🖤💛Thank you to everyone for being so patient and waiting the last couple of weeks while we got everything set up and ready. I have reached out to those who messaged us about honey, so please check your DMs if you were waiting. We love everyone's support and thank you for thinking of us for your sweet honey jars this year. A little about us...this is our 4th year with a hive, and we are still learning a great deal about beekeeping. We have 1 hive as a family hobby, and we collected 31lbs of honey this year. We keep most of our harvest to share with extended family during Christmas. The extra honey we offer in limited amounts to help with farm expenses.

Long day but we are happy to report we are finally collecting honey 🍯 this evening. The bees 🐝 were definitely not happy we took their years of hard work. We made it out unscathed.
Currently, we are in the process of uncapping and spinning the honey tonight. We have happily received many 📩 messages in the last couple of weeks about honey, and we will be posting a very limited amount available, as we only have one hive as a hobby. If you already messaged us, we will reach out to you when it's ready.

This morning started early with 2 gallons of goat milk 🥛 simmering for 8 hours to make Cajeta Caramel sauce, and then another 1 hour canning it in 17 jars. We don't offer Cajeta, but we enjoy sharing the many uses of goat's milk.

LONG post (Sorry)

We had our very first LA score visit yesterday.
it was very educational and we learned so much about body confirmation in dairy goats.
We will definitely be using this information to help plan breedings and selecting future goats we add to the herd.

A few of the senior girls didn't fill their udder the way they normally do and they looked a little stale compared to when they kidded. But we listened to the remarks given and will work on improving udder attachment and udder hight. Over all we need to improve the udders in our herd across the table. We had a very fun time and the goats behaved remarkably during our visit. We are very proud of our herd for the accomplishments and the direction its going.

Rosa and Trixie really surprised us yesterday with their scores. I was honestly expecting lower, and was so surprised they both got scoring in the 80s. They are both our 2 smallest bodied doe's that are very petite and on the shorter side. Trixie kidded in February ( 6 months ago) and her udder was not as full as she started out with earlier in spring, however that didn't stop her from getting the 2nd highest score in our herd. Rosa showed up with her party clothes and really wowed us yesterday with her rear udder hight. She doesn't get much attention due to her wild untamed personality but she walked with confidence and was very well behaved for the appraiser.

We are extremely grateful for being able to participate, Thankfully to P Farms for letting us borrow their horse trailer to get everyone their in one go. Also to my husband's co-workers for make sure he was off work to help me. Also Thank you to Honey B Sheep And Goats and P Farm for inviting us to join their LA stop.
A lot of help went into making this day for us happen.
