Rebel is a special dog. His love for me is intense. I am his person and while he tolerates my family, I am the one that he prefers to spend every waking minute with. He’s gentle with me, he’s silly with me and he shows me his vulnerable side. To me, he embodies what a true Cane Corso should be. He’s powerful, he’s loyal, he is self/free thinking, his sometimes goofy, almost always serious, loyal to death, literally and emotionally intelligent. He greets strangers with ferocity as he reveals his protective side. He is sure you are not a threat, he tolerates your presence around his mom and family. He walks on a leash at Home Depot just fine, exploring the world, but don’t confuse that with wanting to be pet and loved on by strangers… This he does not prefer or enjoy and looks to me for help and asking you to back off before he needs to handle it himself. This is what I mean by self thinking and loyal and respectful. I wish everyone could experience this breed, but truly only those that are capable of recognizing the power behind them and respecting that while still enjoying the love and loyalty and comfort and protect protection that these dogs bring.
