Did you know that Acadiana Humane Society has had a Pet Food Bank since January 2007? Did you know we've also helped people in need of food for both them and their pets since then as well? It's not something we advertise. It's just something we've done over the years, as our ministry has evolved to meet the needs of those in our community as the items needed for them are donated. We've also expanded to offering hurricane relief as we've had more food donated then our programs could use before it spoiled. We've even been working with other non-profits that feed the hungry in our community, by sharing our surplus donations with them. The principal of blessings being multipled has certainly applied as our food ministry has expanded. The more food we give away, the more food is donated so that we can give away even more. Plentiful donations have been coming in so quickly that our volunteers are running themselves ragged making deliveries to get the food distributed quickly. We really are in urgent need of 1 or 2 more freezers, and 1 or 2 more refrigerators to give us more room to keep the food fresh while we are able to organize and share the wealth with others. We would be interested in any size refrigerators and freezers, even commercial size!
