Acadiana Humane Society Causes

Acadiana Humane Society Causes Saving Animals Lives, One at a Time We are an all-volunteer, no-kill animal rescue that covers the Acadiana area in Louisiana.

We have foster homes all around the area. We take in cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, birds, and other small animals that are in need of rescue and homes. We see to their medical and other needs and love and care for them until we can find them an adoptive home.

REMINDER: Due to the unexpected hospitalization and serious surgery of one of our main volunteers, our office will remain closed and we are still not taking in any new animals until further notice. Other volunteers are still taking care of our current rescue animals. Donations are still urgently needed to keep these animals fed and provided for. Donations can be made online, or through Facebook. Cat litter, can and dry cat food, and other pet supplies can be left at Prof Erny's Music during their regular business hours. Any and all help is greatly appreciated at this time. Thank you. www.paypal.me/Acadiana

Happy Veteran's Day! Acadiana Humane Society would like to honor those that serve, or have served our country in any branch of the military. If you, or a member in your household is a veteran, and you submit an application to adopt a cat, goat, or potbelly pig today you will get 75% off of our regular adoption fees. Check out our adoptions page for more information on our adoption process, fees, animals available, and the download link for our prescreening application. You do not have to adopt today to get the special discount. You just need to submit your application on Veteran's Day and note on the app that you or a member of your household is a veteran. Thank you! Please email applications and inquiries to [email protected] and copy [email protected] as the Director and her family are taking a few days off to deal with a recent loss. Our adoption coordinator can check the [email protected] email.

Did you know that Acadiana Humane Society has had a Pet Food Bank since January 2007? Did you know we've also helped people in need of food for both them and their pets since then as well? It's not something we advertise. It's just something we've done over the years, as our ministry has evolved to meet the needs of those in our community as the items needed for them are donated. We've also expanded to offering hurricane relief as we've had more food donated then our programs could use before it spoiled. We've even been working with other non-profits that feed the hungry in our community, by sharing our surplus donations with them. The principal of blessings being multipled has certainly applied as our food ministry has expanded. The more food we give away, the more food is donated so that we can give away even more. Plentiful donations have been coming in so quickly that our volunteers are running themselves ragged making deliveries to get the food distributed quickly. We really are in urgent need of 1 or 2 more freezers, and 1 or 2 more refrigerators to give us more room to keep the food fresh while we are able to organize and share the wealth with others. We would be interested in any size refrigerators and freezers, even commercial size! If anyone has good, clean, and working freezers or refrigerators to donate, please email [email protected] or text 337-371-5477 to let us know. If anyone would like to donate money towards us buying some, please be sure when sending in your donation to make a note that it is "for freezer/refrigerator." Kassidy is in urgent need of oral surgery. He has at least 6 teeth that need to be pulled, and jaw bone damage. He saw Dr. Jasmine on 8/20/2020 for weight loss, and other symptoms. She gave him a convenia injection for the infection, and sub-q fluids for the dehydration, but only oral surgery will help him get better. Please help us raise $500 ASAP so we can get Kassidy the vet care he needs. Thank you! http://acadianahumane.org/catblogger/donate
Not everyone wants to see graphic photos, so be advised that the photos of his mouth are in the comments below for those who do want to see them.
Thank you to the Cat Clinic of Lafayette for helping us help Kassidy.
