📚🐾 Tonight's lesson is being taught by our smallest instructor!
"Class, please turn to page one..."
While it may look like story time, this training exercise is about something much bigger: calmness around distractions, impulse control, focus, and learning to relax around other dogs.
Too often, dog owners think training is all about commands. In reality, some of the most important skills a dog can learn are: ✅ Settling calmly in new environments ✅ Ignoring distractions ✅ Remaining neutral around other dogs ✅ Focusing on their handler ✅ Practicing patience
In this exercise, every dog is working on staying calm and engaged while surrounded by other dogs, people, movement, and environmental distractions.
A well-trained dog isn't just obedient—it's a dog that can confidently exist in the real world.

Reliable recall is more than just a “come” command — it’s one of the most important real-world safety skills your dog can learn.
In this training session, 8-month-old Monty and young doodle Oakley are working on increasing distance and reliability with recall training around distractions. The goal is teaching them that no matter what is happening around them, coming back to their handler is always worth it.
A strong recall can help: ✔ Improve off-leash reliability
✔ Increase safety in public spaces
✔ Prevent dangerous situations
✔ Build engagement and trust
✔ Create more freedom for your dog responsibly
Training recall isn’t about yelling “come” repeatedly and hoping for the best. It’s about building value, consistency, communication, and practicing in real-world environments.
Dogs don’t automatically generalize behaviors to every location, distraction, or distance. That’s why we work on these skills progressively and intentionally.
Monty and Oakley are putting in the work and learning that responding quickly matters — even when life gets exciting around them. 🐾

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America.

Because of their courage and sacrifice, we are able to enjoy moments with our families, our communities, and the dogs we love so much. We are forever grateful to those who gave everything for our freedom.

Some days hold so much meaning in your heart. 💜
Today is my heart Doberman Allie’s Heavenly Birthday.
Three years ago, heaven gained one of the most special souls I’ve ever known.
Allie wasn’t just my dog—she helped me build K9 Fluent Professional Dog Training into what it is today. For 8 incredible years, she stood beside me helping train dogs, guide clients, teach trust, and shape the heart behind everything we do. Her legacy still lives in every dog we help and every owner we empower. 🕊️🐾
Today also marks 114 years since the Titanic sank, a day remembered in history for loss, strength, and resilience. In a way, it feels fitting—a reminder that even after heartbreak, legacies remain and stories continue.
And today is also National Doberman Day, which made it even more special. 🖤🤎
Tess, my incredible demo Doberman, joined client Kali along with her Brittany Millie and Aussie Guinness for a beautiful hike at the Ogden 29th Street Trailhead. Watching these dogs calmly enjoy the trail, make good choices, and give their owner the freedom to truly enjoy the hike is exactly why we do what we do.

And yes—sometimes success includes using the tools that help dogs make better choices. A muzzle is not failure, it is responsible training, safety, and support. The right tools create confidence for both dog and owner, and there is absolutely no shame in that. 🐕🦺
