College football has returned, which means grown adults across America will once again spend 12 Saturdays allowing a 19-year-old to determine whether they speak to their families after 4 PM.

🚨🏈 WE ARE SO BACK 🚨🏈

Here at Patriot Paws, we would like to clarify our official game day policies:

🐾 Dogs ARE permitted to wear team jerseys despite contributing absolutely nothing to the NIL collective.

🐾 “WE” is acceptable when discussing your team despite your last recorded 40-yard dash probably being in elementary school.

🐾 Calories consumed while College GameDay is on DO NOT COUNT. This is veterinary medicine, not human medicine. Don’t ask us to defend that scientifically.

🐾 Screaming “CATCH THE BALL!” at a Division I receiver while dropping a mozzarella stick onto your own shirt is encouraged.

🐾 Your dog does NOT understand why you yelled “ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” loud enough to wake the ancestors. Your cat understands and thinks the offensive coordinator should be fired.

🐾 Saying “I don’t even care anymore” while visibly caring more than you’ve ever cared is perfectly normal.

Here in South Carolina, there are two types of college football fans:

🐅🧡💜 Clemson fans — fueled by orange, unreasonable expectations, and the unwavering belief that there is, in fact, Something in These Hills.

Go Tigers. We said what we said 🐅

Then there are the Gamecocks — carrying generations of emotional baggage, yet emerging every August with the confidence of a program that’s never hurt them before:

🐓❤️ “THIS IS OUR YEAR, BABY! C***S BY 90!”

We respect the delusion. And before anyone gets offended: we love you all.

Drop your team in the comments and BEGIN THE NONSENSE 👇👇

Bonus points for pets in game day gear. Extra points if they look like they’re being held against their will for a photo they did not consent to.

Trash talk is encouraged. Keep it fun, keep it football, and if the comments turn into the NCAA Hunger Games, remember: we know where most of you live because it’s in your pets’ medical records.

That is a joke. Our attorney asked us to emphasize that.

Happy College Football Season from your fellow fans at Patriot Paws 🏈❤️🐾

🐾 LABOR DAY = NO LABOR FOR US! 🐾

The humans of Patriot Paws are taking a well-earned day to rest, recharge, and spend some quality time with our own four-legged freeloaders 😂❤️

Patriot Paws Animal Hospital will be CLOSED Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

We’ll be back Tuesday, September 8th for all the vaccines, belly rubs, ear infections, questionable dietary choices, and “I swear he just started limping in the parking lot” appointments you can throw at us 🩺🐶🐱

We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing Labor Day! And remember: while you may have the day off, your pet will still expect breakfast at EXACTLY the usual time. No exceptions 😌

❤️🤍💙 Happy Labor Day from the Patriot Paws crew! ❤️🤍💙

Hey y’all! Dr. B here.

I’m feeling pretty under the weather, so we made the decision to close a few hours early today to allow time for me to rest and be ready to tackle Thursday. I’m so sorry for any inconvenience! We will be monitoring our email and will be back open for normal business on Thursday at 8 am 💙

Thank you for understanding!

📣 TEMPORARY HOURS UPDATE 🐾

Back-to-school season looks a little different for us this year! 🎒🍎

With the start of the new school year, we recently said “see you later” to two integral members of our team as they headed back to Clemson to continue working toward their dreams of becoming veterinarians 💜 While we’re SO excited for them, that means our Patriot Paws crew is a little smaller than usual!

Rather than stretching our team too thin (and potentially sacrificing the level of care and service we pride ourselves on), we’ve made the decision to temporarily adjust our business hours while we search for the right people to join our team 🐶🐱

🕐 Our temporary hours will be:

Monday: 8 am - 5:30 pm
Tuesday: 8 am - 5:30 pm
Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday: 8 am - 5:30 pm
Friday: 8 am - 5:30 pm
Saturday: EVERY OTHER SATURDAY
*** 9 am - 1:30 pm ***
Closed on 8/22, open on 8/29, and so forth unless otherwise announced
Sunday: CLOSED

We know changes in hours can be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we navigate this transition ❤️

We’re being intentional about finding the right additions to our team—not just filling empty spots—and in the meantime, taking a small step back allows us to take better care of the team we have AND continue giving your pets the attention they deserve.

And speaking of that… 👀 Patriot Paws is hiring! If you or someone you know might be the perfect addition to our slightly chaotic, animal-loving little family, keep an eye on our page for more information! 🐾

Thank you for continuing to support our locally owned, small-but-mighty veterinary practice. We couldn’t do what we do without you ❤️🤍💙

We are SO sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are closing early today (at 3:45 pm) due to staff illness! We all seem to have caught whatever bug is going around.

We will be back on Tuesday 8/18 for normal business hours (8 am - 5:30 pm).

Thank you for your patience and kindness!

💜🐾 It’s not goodbye… it’s “see you when you’re closer to being a veterinarian!” 🐾🧡

Excuse us if you see us crying today. It’s Anzleigh and Paige’s last day of work before they head back to Clemson 😭🐅

Anzleigh and Paige are both continuing their education at Clemson University with hopes of earning a spot in veterinary school in the next few years — and we couldn’t be more excited to see where their journeys take them 🩺🐾

These two have spent their summer jumping headfirst into helping with appointments, caring for patients, learning approximately 472 new things a day, and discovering that working in vet med sometimes means asking yourself, “How did I get p**p THERE?” 😂

But more importantly, they’ve become such a special part of our Patriot Paws family. We’ve loved watching them learn, grow, ask questions, gain confidence, and get hands-on experience with all the things that come along with caring for our patients. We are going to miss them so much 🥹

We’re incredibly proud of you both, and we hope this summer made you even more excited to be veterinarians in a few short years! Go be the best version of yourselves but don’t forget us down here in Sumter. Study hard and prepare to be put on the schedule for your school breaks 😜

Everyone help us wish Anzleigh & Paige a great year back at Clemson! 🐅🧡💜

⚡️ WELL… THIS IS AWKWARD. ⚡️

Patriot Paws Animal Hospital is currently experiencing a power outage — which, as it turns out, makes practicing modern veterinary medicine slightly difficult. 😂

At the moment, our phones, computers, and other equipment may be unavailable or unreliable. If you’re trying to reach us and can’t get through, we promise we’re not ignoring you — we’re just temporarily living like it’s 1897. 🕯️🐾

If you have an appointment scheduled with us this morning, please keep an eye on our social media for updates. We’ll let everyone know as soon as power is restored and we have a better idea of how this may affect today’s schedule.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we wait for someone to kindly plug the clinic back in. 🔌⚡️

🚨 Dr. B Has Been Grounded 🚨

Patriot Paws Animal Hospital will be CLOSED Wednesday, August 5 because apparently there are consequences to ignoring both your car AND your administrative to-do list 😂

Dr. Bruening will be spending the day:

🚗 Taking her car to the shop before it decides to take itself out of service
💻 Answering emails she definitely meant to answer already
📋 Tackling the mountain of administrative work that has been quietly multiplying in the background
☕ Consuming an amount of caffeine appropriate for the situation
🐾 And wondering why “owning a veterinary hospital” involves so many things that have absolutely nothing to do with actually being a veterinarian

Turns out you can’t just keep saying “that sounds like a problem for Future Dr. B” indefinitely.

Unfortunately, Future Dr. B has arrived 😬

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while she attempts to get her life, her inbox, and her vehicle back under control.

We’ll be back Thursday, August 6 at 8:00 AM and ready to see you!

Assuming the car cooperates 🤞🚗😂

👂 “It’s just dirty ears…” 👀 Or is it? 🔬

Not every itchy ear is an ear infection—and not every ear infection is the same. That’s why we look at ear debris under the microscope instead of guessing! 🦠

This little microscope slide told us the real culprit: ear mites. 🕷️ Tiny? Yes. Annoying? Absolutely. Treating the wrong problem can mean your pet stays uncomfortable longer, so cytology and microscopic evaluation help us choose the right treatment the first time. 🩺💙

If your pet is shaking their head, scratching their ears, or has dark debris or a funky smell, it’s time for an exam—not just an ear cleaner!
