Both provide professional training, but they offer two different experiences.
With Day Training, your dog trains with us during the day and comes home with you each evening. Board & Train provides a more immersive experience, with your dog staying with the trainer for a designated period.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The right fit depends on your dog, your training goals, and your lifestyle.

Most dog owners are familiar with Board & Train, but Day Training offers another option for professional dog training without the overnight stay.

With Day Training, your dog spends the day working with a professional trainer on the skills and behaviors they need, then comes home with you at the end of the day.

It’s professional, structured training while still allowing your dog to maintain their normal home routine.

🐾 Reliable obedience is built one step at a time.

Teaching your dog a command is only the beginning. The next step is helping them understand that the same expectation applies even as we add distance, movement, duration, and distractions.

Here we're working on the Place command and building the dog's ability to remain in position while the trainer gradually creates more distance.

Why does this matter?

Because eventually, we want those skills to translate beyond a training session and into everyday life when you're answering the door, having guests over, visiting a dog-friendly spot, or simply need your dog to settle calmly.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about building clear communication, consistency, and skills you can actually use.

Real-world training at one of our favorite local spots ☕🐾 Odd Duck Cafe!

This photo might look simple a dog calmly holding position but there’s a lot more happening outside the frame.

People, movement, sounds, new smells, and plenty of distractions are all part of training in a public environment.

Knowing “sit” or “down” at home is one thing. Being able to stay calm, hold position, and listen to you when the real world is happening around them is another.

At Patriotic Paws K9, we work on real-world obedience so the skills your dog learns during training actually translate to everyday life whether you're visiting a local café, sitting on a restaurant patio, walking through town, or enjoying everything the Lowcountry has to offer.

Impulse control isn’t something you only practice during a training session it can be built into the things you already do with your dog every day. 🐾

🚪 Waiting before going through a doorway
🥣 Sitting calmly before meals
🚗 Waiting for permission before getting out of the car

These may seem like small moments, but they teach your dog an important lesson: calm behavior gets rewarded.
The more consistently you practice these skills during everyday routines, the easier it becomes for your dog to slow down, check in with you, and make better choices when excitement kicks in.

Something as simple as asking your dog to **sit and wait before going through a doorway** is a great way to practice impulse control, patience, and engagement with you.

Good obedience isn’t built during training sessions alone it’s built in the everyday moments. 🐾

Waiting at the door. Staying calm before getting out of the car. Holding a position while distractions are happening. Walking politely instead of pulling.

These small, everyday interactions are where dogs learn that obedience isn’t something we practice only during a training session it’s part of daily life.

At Patriotic Paws K9, our goal is to help Lowcountry dog owners build reliable, real-world obedience that creates calmer dogs and more confident owners.

You don’t need hour-long training sessions to make progress with your dog. 🐾
Some of the best opportunities to reinforce good behavior happen during the routines you’re already doing every day.

Waiting calmly at the door. Walking nicely on leash. Settling in the house. Mealtime. Greeting guests.

Short, focused practice paired with clear expectations and consistency can help turn those everyday moments into lasting habits.
Remember: dog training doesn’t only happen during a “training session.” The little moments throughout the day matter, too!

Day 1 with Beau! 🐾

Every training journey has to start somewhere.

Beau is a 2-year-old Mini Poodle in our On & Off Leash Day Train Program, and Day 1 is all about seeing where he is now and beginning to build a strong foundation.

We’ll be working on reactivity, excessive barking, overall obedience, and reliable behavior both on and off leash. These early sessions give us a chance to work on engagement and communication while learning how Beau responds in real-world environments.

We’re excited to watch his skills develop from here. Stay tuned for more of Beau’s progress! 🐕👏
