Spaying or neutering will make your pet lazy? Your pet needs to have one litter first? Letโ€™s bust some common myths! ๐Ÿพโœ‚๏ธ

When it comes to spaying and neutering, there are a lot of "tall tales" floating around! Sorting fact from fiction is the best way to make confident, proactive decisions for your petโ€™s lifelong health.

Swipe through to see the truth behind 3 of the biggest spay and neuter myths we hear every day! โžก๏ธ

The Quick Takeaways:

1๏ธโƒฃ Weight & Activity: Overfeedingโ€”not surgeryโ€”is the real culprit behind weight gain. We can help you adjust daily calorie goals post-op!

2๏ธโƒฃ Personality: Your petโ€™s core temperament stays exactly the same. It simply reduces hormone-driven urges like roaming or territorial marking.

3๏ธโƒฃ Health Protection: Spaying before the first heat cycle provides the highest protection against mammary cancer and completely eliminates pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection).

โ“ Have questions about timing?

Every pet is unique! Whether you have a playful new puppy or a curious kitten, our team is here to help you determine the safest surgical timeline for your best friend.

Ever wondered how pet insurance actually works? Here is your quick cheat sheet! ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿพ

When an unexpected emergency or sudden illness happens, the last thing you want to worry about is the cost of care.

Pet insurance is designed to give you financial predictabilityโ€”so you can focus 100% on your dog or catโ€™s recovery.

Swipe through our quick guide to learn whatโ€™s covered, what to watch out for in the fine print, and how to pick the right plan for your family! โžก๏ธ

๐Ÿ“Œ Key Takeaways:

1๏ธโƒฃ It Works on Reimbursement: Pay your bill at checkout, file a claim, and get 70%โ€“90% back on covered costs.

2๏ธโƒฃ Enroll Early: Pre-existing conditions aren't covered, so signing up while your pet is young and healthy locks in maximum coverage.

3๏ธโƒฃ Options for Every Budget: From basic accident-only coverage to complete illness and wellness plans.

โ“Questions about your pet's records?

While we don't sell insurance at Maplewood Animal Hospital, we see its life-saving benefits every single day!

๐Ÿ“ž If youโ€™re shopping around for quotes, give our team a call or text at 337-625-2575.

Weโ€™re happy to print or email a copy of your petโ€™s complete medical history! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿฑ 5 SIGNS YOUR CAT MAY BE IN PAIN

Cats are incredibly good at hiding discomfort. Instead of crying out or making it obvious, they may show subtle changes in their everyday behavior. ๐Ÿพ

Keep an eye out for changes such as:

๐Ÿ”น Hiding more than usual
๐Ÿ”น Moving differently or hesitating to jump
๐Ÿ”น Changes in grooming habits
๐Ÿ”น Eating less or becoming unusually picky
๐Ÿ”น Changes in personality or social behavior

These signs don't always mean your cat is in pain, but they can be clues that something isn't quite right.

If you notice a persistent or unusual change in your cat, a veterinary examination can help determine what's going on.

๐Ÿ’š Know your cat's normal. Notice the changes. Don't ignore the clues.
