“Jude” is a bay quarter horse gelding that is available for adoption through Mississippi Horses. This horse has had multiple extremely talented trainers and fosters that has worked with him and contributed into the horse he is today. Jude is now looking for that forever home with the right person who will love him for the horse he is!

Jude has had quite a bit of riding time put on him from trail riding, arena work, obstacles, pushing cattle, and tracking the roping dummy. He’s a really nice riding horse and has the smoothest lope to him!

It’s been raining consistently here unfortunately but as soon as the weather corporates Jude will be getting some updated video’s/ and pictures to showcase the horse he is. Stay tuned to watch this horse work within the next few days!

Meet “Ivar” that is available for adoption through Mississippi Horses .

Ivar is part Kiger Mustang who came to Mississippi Horses through the 2017 Open door Shelter as a yearling. He was fostered and ended up being adopted but unfortunately ended up being returned back to the rescue due to unexpected boarding changes recently. Although his adopter absolutely loved Ivar and accomplished many things with him she wasn’t able to keep him.

Ivar has had years of training and dedication poured into him and is looking for the right home. He has had trail experience, rides both English and western, dressage, and has even played around with mounted archery! Ivar loves people, and getting to do things and going places.

If you are looking for a horse that can do a little bit of everything then Ivar might be just the guy. He is extremely easy to handle, 1st to the gate, pastures well with others, stands tied, stands for the farrier, bathing, load/unloads, and lots more.

It’s just day 3 for “Seven” and he is coming right along! This Mustang is super enjoyable to work with due to his super goofy and opinionated personality. Lots of love already for this kind guy 🧡

Here’s my draw for the Meeker Mustang Makeover! He’s a 3 year old gelding from Antelope, NV. I was 7th to draw so we are going with the name “Lucky 7”🍀

I’m looking forward to bringing this guy to the Bluegrass State and getting started on our training journey! In September we will go back to Meeker, Colorado to compete amongst other great mustangs and trainers. Extremely thankful for this opportunity and getting to be a part of something so special.

So glad we get to share this experience and are able to train along side each other for the next few months!🫶

Many of you will recognize Colby O'Connorfrom last year, where she competed with Gambler. She quickly proved herself as a serious competitor. Colby is an exceptional showman and a genuinely kind and incredible person as well. Last year, she showed up and showed out with Gambler, and this year she returns to defend her title with Steele: 2026 Heart of the Horse Trainers Challenge.

Joining her this year is Colby’s sister, Jessica Hemingway, who will be competing in the amateur division with Storm: 2026 Heart of the Horse Trainers Challenge. Jessica was such a joy to meet at the pickup event! From the start, Storm seemed like a natural match for her. We’re excited to watch their journey unfold.

Could we see two sisters take the WIN in their respective divisions this year at the 2026 Heart of the Horse Trainers Challenge?!

Tomorrow’s the day that I will be drawing a number and picking a horse to work with for the next 120 days for the Heart of the Horse Trainers Challenge.

As the years have gone on and I’ve met a new partner for each challenge I have become more and more appreciative, and thankful for the opportunity to get to be a part of something like this. The time you get to spend with these horses who need this type of opportunity to have the best shot at a successful future is something extremely special. Each horse stays with you for a different reason. Each one brings a lesson, a teaching moment, and an accomplishment- even if it may seem small to others.

As tomorrow approaches to draw a number and select my next partner, I can’t help but wonder what’s in store for the both of us- what lesson will this one leave behind? What will be the thing that sticks with me and better my horsemanship? In the meantime, here’s a few photos of my past competition horses. This will be my 2nd time participating in the Heart of the Horse Trainers Challenge and I can’t wait to get started. Stay tuned to find out who I get the pleasure of working with for the next few months!

Just a week away before heads back to Mississippi to meet her potential adopter. We will all miss this mare and having her around. From being a go to lesson horse, everyone’s pick for a trail ride, and just having the company of this sweet and kind red mare around . But we are wishing her the best and are glad we got to be a small part of her story! Here’s a small clip of the last lesson she got to be a part of while being here💜
