I’m very grateful to be staying on through this next chapter and continuing to be part of something I’ve cared so deeply about from the start. I’m incredibly happy knowing it’s being taken over by someone who has truly put in the time, hard work, and dedication for it. I can’t think of someone more deserving to take it over, and I’m excited to see where we go from here. WELCOME HOLLAND PET COMPANY!!! and congratulations Laura!
Taylor, thank you for starting such an amazing company and creating something that has impacted so many people and dogs. I’m incredibly grateful for everything you’ve taught me over the years. You helped grow not only my knowledge and understanding of dogs, but also my confidence and passion for this work. Your dedication, work ethic, and the way you built this company from the ground up has truly been inspiring to watch.
I’m thankful for the opportunities, the lessons, and the trust you gave me from the beginning. What you built means so much to all of us, and I’m proud to have been part of it.
After nearly nine years, I’m excited to officially announce that Medlin Pet Company is being passed on to someone who has been part of this business almost since the very beginning — our longest-term team member, Laura. ❤️
As part of this transition, Medlin Pet Company will officially become Holland Pet Company under Laura’s ownership.
The same team, the same services, the same values, and the same level of care you’ve come to know and trust will all remain exactly the same. Grooming, Daycare, Boarding, Training (with our partner Leashed by Lindsey) — everything will continue, including scheduled appointments, packages, deposits, just under the new name of Holland Pet Company.
When I opened Medlin Pet Company almost nine years ago, it was truly built from the ground up with a lot of hard work and a lot of help from the people around me. In the early days, I was trying to juggle grooming, daycare, boarding, and training all at once. My mom was our receptionist, one of our close friends for a couple of months was helping in the back, and together we were simply doing whatever it took to make this dream work.
Laura walked through our doors just one month after we officially opened. She had recently graduated with honors from her Professional Pet Grooming Certification program and stopped in to see the “new place” opening in town. We took a chance on each other very early on, and it ended up becoming one of the best decisions either of us could have made.
Over the years, Laura became the head of our grooming department and one of the biggest parts of Medlin Pet Company. She knows our clients, our standards, and our philosophy, and genuinely cares about the pets here as if they were her own. She has been a huge part of building the trust and reputation this business has today, which is why I truly cannot imagine anyone better to take this over.
I also want to recognize all of the incredible team members — past and present — who helped shape Medlin Pet Company over the years. Small businesses are never built by one person alone, and so many amazing people helped create the atmosphere, relationships, and care that made this place what it is today. I will always be grateful for every single person who was part of this journey, whether they were with us for 8 years, 4 years, 3 years, or somewhere in between.
The reason for this transition is simple: I’m ready to take a step back and focus more on my family and the next chapter of life personally. As hard as it is to let go of something I built from the ground up, there is a huge sense of comfort in knowing I’m passing it on to someone who has always dreamed of doing exactly this herself.
This isn’t an ending — it’s a continuation. It’s the next chapter of something we’ve all built together over the last nine years, and I truly could not be more excited for Laura and for the future of Holland Pet Company.
To all of our clients, friends, family, and supporters: thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your pets, supporting a small business, and helping create something that means so much to so many people.
And to Laura — thank you for believing in this place from the very beginning. I’m so proud of you, and I cannot wait to watch Holland Pet Company continue to grow under your ownership. ❤️
